I really think you should send home the gifts.

$10 gift card from one family who has two kids enrolled. :: I guess is something though, cuz the other families haven't given me so much as a card, a "Merry Christmas" or a simple Thank You.

You're very lucky this year! Good for you!

That was very rude of the DCM to post what the teachers got last year and not include you!

I'm sorry but I think that the people that don't do anythiing are rude and unappreciative. REally is it too much trouble to even just write something in a card? You don't even have to give something with monetary value, but a CARD! That is inexcusable. That would really hurt my feelings. I am blessed that I have such wonderful parents. Every single one gave me giftcards or cash and even a beautiful bracelet. The best part of all of it? The heartfelt messages that were in the cards that came with the gifts. Those notes meant alot. Shame on those people that don't even give a card.

On Monday one of my dcm's walks in, sees that I had done the Christmas party with the kids and said "Oh I didn't know you were doing the Christmas party today. Guess I should go buy you a gift. Ugh I hate shopping like this. So what do you want?" I am pretty sure it took me a good minute or two to pick my jaw up off the floor. Her tone of voice was the worst part, it was like it annoyed her that she'd have to spend money on me even after she paid me for the week. I just looked at her and told her not to get me anything. I honestly wanted to cry. I've been through he l l and back with her son and her trying to convince me that at 22 months old he's fully potty trained at home an that its my fault he isn't doing it here. I mean, a fricken "Thanks for all you do for us" would have been AMAZING!

Sorry I just had to get that off my chest.

My drop in family didn't get me anything this year, which is a shock because they're normally really good about getting me stuff throughout the year, but I'm ok with it.

Then my new family got my two kids a toy to thank them for sharing their mommy and their house every day! I thought that was so sweet. BEST.GIFT.EVER.!

I have been pleasantly surpised today with all the nice gifts I have recieved. beautiful candles, bubble bath, yummy chocolates and some very generous gift cards. The best gift was a beautiful letter one of my dcm wrote about how much my involvement in her daughters life is appreciated. brought me to tears!

I have in my contract that my paid holidays are Christmas Eve and Christmas. So I texted parents reminding them of this and one texted back that they were going to pay me for the whole week anyways as a Christmas bonus! So I guess I will get almost a whole week's pay!

Oh, and other sweet dcm whose been bringing me something once a day brought a cookie mix and today homemade gingerbread playdough with Christmas cookie cutters. How fun! =)

Honestly, where we are (very bad economy), I don't think most people give anything. I had one family that gave me a $100 bonus last year, but neither of the other families gave me anything. They did buy presents for the other kiddos in the daycare - little gifts like stocking stuffer types. When I worked for the post office as a foot carrier I got a little, but not all that much, either. It's just not done around here much.

I usually give things like plates of cookies and homemade gifts even myself. I have no money to give anyone, and not many people around here have any money to spare.....

Plus, I only have two families right now and one family is newish (only been here two months) and the other is having some major financial struggles, so it really wasn't likely this year anyway. Even more reason I'm glad i gave myself the gift of time off.
Same here, no gifts, but I have those 5 days off.it's been close to 3yrs since i have had that much time off.

Nothing, but I didn't expect anything. I only have one family (2 kids) and they didn't give me anything last year. It was funny today. They had a big spread at work and she said that they sent her home with a ton of leftover goodies from the party and she didn't know what in the world she was going to do with them all. When I helped her carry the kids and presents to the car, the entire front seat was full of cookies and cupcakes. Again she repeated that she didn't know what in the world she was going to do with it all.

After 2 years with this family, I just grinned to myself and inwardly shook my head. Some people just don't get it.

Funny thing is that she has a pin board on Pinterest called "teacher gifts" but I'm the closest thing to a teacher connected to that family. I guess teaching the baby her abc's, counting to 20, spelling her name, all her colors and shapes doesn't really count as teaching. ::

But I got a lovely Christmas card from the family I had to term last Spring (ran out of spaces, and it worked out well for all of us in the end).

I've always gotten things already mentioned (cards, gift cards, lotions and the likes) but this year nothing, not even a thank you. Well except the great gift of a week and a half vacation from everyone I gave myself! happyface

One DCM bought my DD a HUGE personalized blanket (its like 60x80) with a picture of DD and DCB with caption "First Best Friends! 2012" and a toy car.

I don't buy gifts for DCFs, the kids make presents for DCPs, but I don't do anything for them other than a party.

Over the years I have gotten everything from nothing, to a Dollar Store fingernail kit, to $100 gift cards. The one thing I have noticed is that the annoying families usually don't do anything and the awesome families are usually generous. I guess that makes sense.

I was very pleasantly surprised, I was literally showered with gifts all week....lovethislovethislovethis. I really didn't expect it, as I have only been here a few months....but even from the families who didn't give me anything, tons of thank you's, Merry Christmas, etc....

At the place I was at before, I gave thr kids gifts, had the Christmas party out of my own money, etc....sometimes didn't get so much as a "bye" as they were leaving.

                              I have been blessed.
