    Worst Interview EVER!!

In 9 years of running my daycare business I have NEVER had such an awful, horrible experience with an interview as the one I had last night. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone after they left...

I agree! Especially since I've experienced a few terrible ones as well! Nice to know I'm not the only one!

You are making us wait in suspense ....no fair

But seriously, I do know how you feel. I had a few really bad ones myself.
          Here I will share one:

There was one mom who had this note pad and pen. She walked all through my house, and even stood on my back deck (This was before moved where we live now) looking out into the yard. She asked a lot of questions and left no room for me to ask her anything. She kept jotting stuff down on her note pad and was very very serious. NO smile, nothing. Her kids looked unhappy too.

            1. Her kids destroyed my house. Literally.
            2. They didnt listen to a word she said.
            3. They didnt listen to a word I said.
            4. They screamed & cried & fought with each other.
            5. The little girl has seizures occasionally & 911 has to be called.
            6. She almost busted my fish tank by slamming a rocking chair into the glass.
            7. The little boy has seizures too.
            8. He takes meds twice a day, which I would be responsible for giving.
            9. Oh yeah, if a seizure lasts more than 5 mins, he has a syringe of some sort that goes up his butt!?!?!???
            10. Mom & dad are separating.
            11. Mom claims the kids are "great" when its just her...although they completely disobeyed & disrespected her while they were here.
            12. They climbed on furniture.
            13. They carried my cats (real ones!) around like rag dolls & kept dropping them.
            14. The little boy bent the frame of my new $40 baby gate by hanging on it & busted it open after he was told not to touch it.
            15. "By the way, my son vomits after he eats..."

what really. I bet you they have been thrown out of other daycares. I have never heard of of meds you give like this. why do they have seizures.

Did you complete the whole interview or cut it off and say this won't work goodbye?

                  .....NEXT!!!!!

Sometimes......these types of interviews are absolutely necessary so that we can appreciate the good families.

Sorry you had to endure that chaos....sounds like a really disfuntional family.

You guys crack me up! ::

I actually completed the interview -what I could hear of it anyway, those kids were SO loud- but when she asked if there were any papers to fill out, I said no. I sorta kinda made it sound like I wasn't able to take her kids on 2nd shift... I hope she caught my drift!! I really hope I never hear from her again, but if I do...it will be a firm NO. I swear when they left I stood here thinking, "Did that really just happen???" I thought it must have been a Candid Camera situation, ha! ::

The girl has seizures if she gets a high fever. The boy's seizures are unexplained. I asked my BFF, who is a nurse, about the rectal medications but she hadn't heard of it either. And the vomiting is also unexplained.

I literally had to clean my whole house again when they left & my husband had to fix the gate. He was NOT happy...thank God he wasn't here for the chaos during the interview.

And the mom kept saying to the kids, "Maybe she'll be your babysitter and you can come back here." Uhhhhh...no.

It exists. Would I use it?? Um, no. Not to mention, you would have to be specifically trained and responsible for recognizing and using it appropriately.

If that were the ONLY issue...um, yeah, probably still not. And I do special needs care.

Did the mom say anything or acknowledge that her child broke your baby gate?!?!? Was your husband able to fix it? I would have insisted on being reimbursed - pretty bad when a parent can't control her kids for a 30 min interview. Sounds like you dodged a huge bullet!

I gently put my hand on the boy's back & said "Look, you bent the gate...it wasn't bent before. I asked you to leave it alone." He didn't say anything & neither did mom. It was at that point they packed up to go. I think my husband fixed it well enough, but still, he wasn't happy. We immediately went from the gate issue to the fish tank issue when the mom was trying to get the girl's shoes on. It was a nightmare.
