I never quite know what's worse ... badly behaved children at interviews or badly behaved parents. :: You will laugh about this in the months to come. It's always surprising to see what is out there when it comes to clients!

I would have pretended I got a text from someone else I just interviewed and oh they decided to use me, so I'm sorry I don't have an opening anymore. BYE!!!- Flag

That's because you said there was no paperwork. She figured you don't require it and that you love her little angels because you didn't yell at or beat them during the interview. She's just going to show up at your door tomorrow at 6 am with her kids in tow. Better yet maybe she will leave them by the door and honk as she is pulling away to alert you of there presence. :: ....now I'm hoping I didn't curse you!
A friend of mine did have someone do something similar to her. The person interviewed and it went horribly. There was no mention of the child starting and she was glad. The next day was a holiday and the daycare was closed but that morning the mom dropped her child off on the providers door step and had the kid knock (older child) and then didn't answer her phone for half the day. My friend was a saint and took the child with her that day. My friend burned out quick.- Flag

I think the worstg interview I ever had was one for a drop in. The child was very young and when I opened the door and they came in, I greeted them and the boy started crying , we only talked a few minutes and she left pretty much left right away. He cried the entire time. Needless to say I never heard back from them. Nothing compared to your story!

Oh NO she DIDN'T!!!!!
The she said that I would have said "Excuse me Ma'am, but I am NOT a babysitter. I am a family child care provider! This is a professional business and I am a professional. I expect that my home and I be treated with respect by both the parents and the children!" then I would have told her "This interview is over!"
Licensed/registered child care providers need to be more firm with not being called "babysitters". a babysitter watches less children and get paid more per hour and under the table (No taxes) and they get to watch tv, eat the parent's food, and some don't have any prior expieriences with children or education in child development/ECE or 1st aid/CPR. A Child care provider needs to provide/prep food for children, buy toys/equipment, keep home/center up to date with safety and health codes as well as 1st Aid and CPR certifications, keep child's immunization and emergency contact records on file, keep up with multiple kids, prepare curriculum and activities, keep track of all families scheduals and payments/tax information, some even have to keep track of employee's information/ hours and payments and in some states and program assistance take child care/development classes. So yeah there is a BIG difference between a babysitter and a provider.- Flag
