Just Finishing The Final Touches To My New Contract...

I don't have any questions (right now!) on the wording of my changes, but what I would like to do is attach a letter to the new handbooks and contracts, explaining that there have been changes to the new contract and to please review carefully and sign by X date. Do you think this is necessary? How would you word it? Or is me handing a new contract after not having to sign one for a full year pretty self-explanatory that it wouldn't require a, "lookee here! New contract, read it, sign it!"?

The only time I've ever made contract/parent handbook changes was when I went from having one child 2 days a week when I started doing day care between Sept.2011 and when I actually started taking in more children and operating full time in January 2012.

My parent handbook is combined with my contract, not sure of that makes a difference with responses. :-)

My handbook/contract is also combined. I re-write or re-print condtracts/handbooks yearly. Things don't always change but everyone gets a new copy.

What I do is write a quick note saying there are changes and then I do a bulletin list of changes (without the explanation) so they know what things have changed but will need to actually read the contract to see what it is that actually changed about the rule/policy.

    For example it will say

    Dear Parents:

Here is a copy of your revised handbook-contract. As usually please read it thoroughly as there have been changes. The changes or amendments have been made in the following areas:
    • payments
    • illnesses
    • closing dates
    • supply list
    • meals and snacks

If you have any questions about the changes, please contact me any time.

    Thank you,
    Provider

I only give out new handbooks/contracts if there are changes and I so spell those changes out in a cover letter I attach to the forms.
