The worst part is that some parents will use these inexperienced babysitters and childcare providers just to save a buck!

          True! ...and sad!

My DH works with a guy that takes his DD to a 21yr old his DW met off craigslist. She has no ece training of any kind, no first aid/cpr, and she lives in an upstairs 1 bed apt with no access to a park or playground (no drivers license either :confused, but she only charges $100/month all they do is watch tv his DD (3yrs) says. The worst part... she has 3-4 other kids daily!

I've tried to get her info to report her (only 3 max is allowed unlicensed in our state) but DH isn't a very good investigator :: and the guy never gives specifics besides what apt complex.

Nice I just saw on the news a couple that took there daughter to grandma because she was free. Well grandma was a hoarder and the conditions in the house were horrible and the family lost her because of neglect. Sometimes people don't think at all.

Actually, aside from a few spelling errors - these ladies sound awesome! I would call for an interview for sure!

There is no way I would even call someone that spells that bad...and they will be teaching the children? I'm sorry but that would be a big no for me! We have a lot of ads like these, all very similar. I would choose someone that can spell in a heartbeat

And that's your choice. But I think that's an outrageously closed-minded choice. If you read this board alot you will note that we have quite a few bad spellers on the board... it doesn't neccessarily make them any less educated or capable of taking really excellent care of children and teaching children (btw, toddlers don't typically learn to spell in daycare ) than say you are.

Wow, that was pretty mean...I can see why people would stop using this forum if this is the kind of attitude people have. Very very rude to call me close minded because I say a person posting ad can't spell. I'm sorry. When you post an ad in hopes of getting people to pay you to care for and educate your children spell check is in order. Posting on this forum not so much....

I don't think what I said was mean at all. I agree that the ad could be more professional - but to say that you wouldn't allow your child to be taught by someone who isn't very good at spelling is close-minded to me. I can guarantee all the teachers your child encounters in life won't be perfect spellers and you can't rely on spell check all the time!

Where I come from calling someone outrageously closed minded is considered mean. Posting an ad is very much like posting a resume. When you type a resume you proofread, spelling errors on a resume goes right in the trash. Yes, I have worked for many large companies and this is a standard policy. By your standards horrific spelling errors (too many to list in this particular ad) doesn't mean they aren't good providers but the same could be said of the person posting care for $50 per month. Maybe this is a retired woman missing her grandchildren and would be absolutely perfect as a caregiver yet you called this person inexperienced...

I don't need spellcheck to type but some people do

Well, sorry if I offended you, but I stand by how I feel about what you said.

Charging $50 a month for "any amount of kids" for "any shift" is impossible. How is this person going FEED these children... nevermind provide other simple activities like crafts, etc? You cannot care for a child on $50 a month. You know that. Offering such a thing indicates a complete lack of experience... whereas at leats the ad with the bad spelling offered references, let you know they have CPR and first aide, safe sleeping course, etc. Two completely different scenerios!

And for the record, in your original post which is what I believed to be a close-minded statement you made absolutely NO reference to the ad being unprofessional (which I agree, not checking your spelling for an ad is) - you simply said that you would choose someone that can spell. Well, the reality is, lots of people aren't very good spellers (yes, even educators) when spellcheck isn't handy.
