I am considering eliminating it. I have one before and after school kid who is staying with me in fall, and will need breakfast before 8. The rest will be eating at 8. I think AM snack at 9:30 and lunch at 11:30 is just too much. AM snack rarely gets eaten. I only have age 2+ kids. I serve PM snack at 3-3:30, so they go 3+ hours in between meals then, it will be the same time frame for breakfast-lunch.
Who doesn't do AM snack?

I sometimes do and sometimes don't. It all depends who is here and what we had for breaky. We eat lunch at noon (lately after 12pm) and it all depends what we are doing, some they are more hungry than other times. Does it make a difference, nope.- Flag

Most days we don't, but occasionally we will have a light snack depending on what we've done in the morning. We have breakfast at 8 and then have lunch around 11:30 and then a PM snack around 3 or so.- Flag

I have one little guy who comes at 7:45 having already snacked on dry cereal at home, and I serve him breakfast at 8:30. At that time, any other kiddos who might be hungry eat a snack, too. After that, we are good until 11:30 when we eat lunch. It works for us!- Flag

I don't serve an am snack. We have breakfast around 8am and lunch between 11-noon. I try to have a protein loaded breakfast for them. If we have more carbs they will sometimes complain. I find they usually eat lunch really well. We do have a pm snack.

Ok, I'm working on Septembers menus and newsletter (how exciting on my unexpected morning off). I think I will just take them out and let parents know that if everyone is hungry we will eat, it just won't be a planned everyday occurance.- Flag

No am snack here. Back when I provided it, the kids were not eating their lunch. Since there is more nutrition in lunch then snack (ie more food groups), I eliminated the morning snack. Now most everyone has a good appetite for lunch. It is a fairly large break between breakfast and lunch, though (8 am to 11:30 am). It's funny because afternoon snack is served after nap (at around 3 pm), and you would be surprised at how little they are interested in it!- Flag

I don't do the AM snack. Breakfast at 8:30, lunch 11:30, pm snack at 2:30-3:00 sometime depending on when everyone is up from nap. The kids seem fine. I have two early arrivals meaning at 7am, so if they seem REALLY hungry I will give them a bit a dry cereal, but usually they are fine until breakfast.- Flag
