    Childproofing Floor Lamps

When the state came this week they told me to get rid of, or secure my floor lamps. i had them tucked behind furniture, but that's not good enough.

My house is old enough that we do not have overhead lighting.

The problem is that we're having a tough time right now and I cannot afford to buy wall lamps.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to secure these types of lamps?

I have the same kind and probably need to secure mine as well. I saw in one place someone suggested an eyebolt and wire or cord running around the lamp so it can't tip over.

Could you use a furniture anchor like this

It's a little pricey, but might be cheaper than wall lamps. You might even be able to find them on ebay. It's hard cuz most screw into the furniture. I've been looking for some for other furniture I have because you just never know

You might be able to use these too. Just don't use that second clip. Secure it to the wall and run the zip tie around the lamp. Not 100% sure it would work but it looks like it could.

I've got floor lamps & I screwed an eye bolt into the wall at the stud then tied some 50lb fishing wire to the bolt, wrapped it around the lamp 4 times and back to the bolt where I tied it again.

I'd go to a fabric store and get some of that webbing stuff they make straps from in whatever color matches your decor, burn the ends so they don't fray, cut it to length to secure the lamp and then drill a hole through both thicknesses and secure it to the wall with a wall anchor and washer. Hard to picture, I know, but that would be both inexpensive and effective.

I found something in the plumbing department - quite by accident - like a pipe strap, used to hang copper pipe from the ceiling, it's so perfect! And I just painted them
Now the kids can go in my living room!
