I do too. I stepped outside yesterday and heard all this buzzing. I honestly thought I had some bees, but nope they were flies. I live in an area where people have horses and other animals. I'm not sure what I will do because I hate the site of fly tape. I hope someone has some better ideas . I HATE flies.

The flies are REALLY bad this year. Both inside and out. I can't remember when we had them like this. Last year we had a lot of wasps in the yard so I will take the flies over the wasps, but they are so annoying.

Our flies are horrendous out here.

I have HEARD that the pennies in a bag of water trick works well. I'm about to try it!

We actually do this but with no penny. We just put a sandwich bag of water over the door or beside it. Its has something to do with their eyes or something. We rarely have flies in the house anymore.

I have heard about it too. It works with just the water in the zip lock bag, no pennies needed I think? It is supposed to repel them from flying that way because of how it looks in the sun. Worth a try!

Hmmm....no flies yet. Ants are a dime a dozen though.

I've heard about the water trick and flies too. Can't hurt to try!

I have a 2 1/2 yr old girl who would get genuinely scared and would cry when she saw a fly. If it landed on her, oh lord help us. One day I said to my 6 as a group that flies won't hurt us, I like flies, they're my friends. Now the 3 and 4 yr old girls will say "there's your friend!", and the 2 yr old girl will laugh -- nervously -- but she does laugh. An improvement over all-out screaming and running. I never knew such an innocent comment made by me could solve the problem!

Flies, Ants and Heat Oh My!

Flies...we had flies inside our house in our front window for about 2 weeks, I would kill one and 4 would show up for the funeral. There was nothing sticky, they wouldn't fly anywhere else and stayed in that particular window. They were easy to kill because they were very lethargic acting but I would kill them and an hour later I would look at the window and there would be 20 more, sometimes baby flies and sometimes the huge ones! Yes, I'm serious 20 plus flies would keep reappearing in the window and I was starting to feel like I was in a horror movie and like I should call a priest and it suddenly stopped.

Ants..at first they were in my daughters room. She does not have any food or crumbs in there but they didn't care. We couldn't figure out where they were coming from because they were coming from the wall that is shared with the living room and there were no ants in there. Thankfully they never spread anywhere else in the house and I was able to poison the colony. On our front porch they seem to have found something incredibly tasty because they are covering, I mean thousands of ants, on certain spots. We have hosed it off several times and have no idea what it is they are all so fond of.

Heat...no complaint from me, I love it! I live in Iowa so bring it on! I don't care if I sweat through my shirt as long as my deodorant keeps working. I love having the kids outside all day...lots of sand, water, shade and popsicles....no mess in my house and exhausted kids for nap time!

I am terrified of ants. I don't mind one or 2, but when I see a huge pile of them I get nervous. I was attacked twice by ants. Yes, I said attacked. About 10 yrs or so ago, we were taking out a dog house from our yard. I had jeans on and after a bit, I felt like something was crawling up my legs. I took off my jeans to find my both legs covered in ants. They were biting me and I got red blotches all over my legs. I had to wear shorts for several weeks because jeans would irritate them. People couldn't believe it when I said it was from ants. Later that summer, I went to my dad's. He just got done mowing and I parked in the driveway and got out where the yard/driveway join. Guess what? Apparently the mowing annoyed the ants and I stepped onto a pile (unknowingly) and they started crawling up my legs again. I was totally freaking out. So when we see a huge pile of ants, I go into panic mood, my heart starts to beat frantically.
