    Part Time Rate?

I have decided to raise my rates a little since I have called around and gotten quotes of other Child Care Providers in my area. But my question is What should I charge for only a Part Time Rate?

Ive decided my new rate for Full Time is $125/Wk for 3 days or more per week. I do provide all food - breakfast, AM snack, Lunch, PM snack and drinks throughout the day.

So if my FT rate is $125/Wk what do you think my PT rate should be?

I have to keep in mind that a Part Time person still takes up a spot for that week because chances of me finding someone to fall into the days that they do not care is very slim.

I thought about charging $90/Wk for Part Time. What would you all recommend?

I charge by the full day for part timers, regardless of when they are here. I do not do families that want an hour here, an hour there....all the coming and going is very disruptive. The full day rate is more than the weekly rate divided by five....so in your case, I would charge $30 a day for part timers regardless of whether they actually use the full day or not. Part timers are tricky....part timers under 18 months are very hard.....

My full time rate is $100/week, which is in the upper middle for the area, and my part time rate is $75/week up to 30 hours. Anything over 30 hours and it is $3.00 per hour per child.

        I have a $100 minimum per week.

I consider PT to be anything less than 24 hours per week.

Whether it be mornings or afternoons Monday through Friday or 2-3 days per week.

I charge a weekly rate. So the way I do it is they pay the weekly rate and if they do not use all days that I have reserved for them then thats not my problem, they still pay since I reserved that spot.

So basically in the Part Time case it would be 2 days or less. So they would be charged for 2 days whether they came both days or not.

So you think I should charge $60/Wk for Part Time then if my FT rate for 3 days or more is $125?

I really dont want to take on anymore part timers. I would like to have full time only really . Because they take up the spot for a week basically because finding someone to fill the spot for the days they do not use is slim.

I am creating my website now so I am trying to get all of my rates in order so I can get everything together and stick to it

I don't like part time either & struggle with rates as well.

I charge a little more than what the state pays for subsidy part time. My part time is 2 days per week 19 hours or less & the 2 days must be the same each week. I charge $80/ week PT and $125/ week FT.

If you really want full timers and dont want the hassle of dealing with trying to fill in spots left by part timers, then why even offer part time? I charge full time at $140 per week and part time at $30 per day BUT I only offer one part time spot at a time.....like everyone said, they are a hassle any way you slice it.

I've always been told the rule of thumb is to charge 25% more for part time.

                Example:

Your weekly rate is $150 or $30 per day.

Your part time daily rate should be: $37.50.

I charge $40 per day for part time, with a 2 day minimum. (So, 90.00 per week, regardess if they come or not).

Here is what I suggest if you would like to take part timers. I changed it this way almost 4 years ago without any problems.

PT spots are M_W_F or T-TH only. This way you will have a two part timers taking up a full time spot.

However, since you have a 3 day as full time (which I think is a bad idea, because you are automatically putting yourself in a situation to lose out on two days of the week, when you could be making money.)

I also charge more for my PT spots than full time..usually $5.00 more per day.

FT always takes priority over PT and PT spots understand that they may be asked to move or adjust their schedules if needed. Not every week, just a one time thing..

That sounds about right. Im just not sure $60 or $65 for a spot is worth it to me. I almost rather just have FT families.

I had mine set for 4 days or more was FT and then 3 days or less was PT. But I just recently changed that because someone else told me that I should do 3 days or more as full time since its over half of the week taken up.

What do you mean by this, how am I losing money this way?

LOL Scare me for a minute I was about to pull my hair out .

To me with PT only being two days I dont want to lose money by taking on a part time kid and then there I am losing money when I could have a full time kid. It would be okay if I was to charge a decent enough rate for PT but when you can only charge so much its almost not worth it to accept PT.

                            Ya know?

Yeah I have considered not offering Part Time anymore but ... I do have one part time child right now so I was thinking maybe I would offer one part time spot and the rest full time spots. But would like to have a rate set up incase it came up to where I wanted to offer Part Time then I would already have my rates set for that
