I would not term the family now, just talk with them about it. Just be honest. What is the worst that will happen? She lies to you or you end up with a two week notice.

I feel like I have a good relationship with all of my parents and can talk to them about anything. Hopefully you can do the same, even though this one does not want to be on board, bring them on board.

I'd be skeptical either way. Who's to say she won't get someone to take her up on it and she shorts you the notice you require?

I'd casually mention it at pickup.

"Hey Pam, I was browsing Craigslist and seen you have an ad up there for childcare. Do I need to start looking for a replacement for Johnny's spot?"

Well I didn't say anything yet about her add to her. But I did ask her what her plans are and she said she had another interview Thursday and another on Monday. She still really wants to make this work and her baby loves coming and they don't want out she says.

Maybe she's looking for something to subsidize her income until she finds work?

This is my guess as well. I know when I went back to work I applied for all sorts of jobs - some I was super interested in, others not so much and a couple I didn't think I'd really end up taking but wanted more information on. I figured the more worms I threw out, the greater the chances of getting a bite and if I caught a couple fish in the process and had a choice on which to keep, all the better. She's probably getting discouraged going on interviews and, like most mothers, would rather be home with her child so she put an advertisement up to see what her options are, but that doesn't mean she's not still looking for a job in her original field that would require your care for her child.
