That was very wrong! Maybe they thought you would listen to the screaming so they didn't have to!
My babies always seem to hit a phase around 5 months old where they spend more time waking up and crying because they lost their pacifier than they spend sleeping. This is when I wean them!
I tell the parents what I am doing and a lot of times they will wean them at the same time. If not, the baby gets used to having one at home but not here and does fine.
