    Changed Up My Routine

Over the weekend I changed some things with my childcare. Rotated out a bunch of toys from the toy area. Have new things to do for center times. Made a small sensory bin (one child at a time). We will be going out once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Couldn't yesterday afternoon though because it couldn't make up its mind if it was sunny, snowing, downpouring, hailing, etc.

Everything is wet, wet, wet, mud, mud, mud and only one parent has said anything about the child being wet at pickup the first afternoon we were outside. I have to be careful though in the afternoons because some of the kids do have activities right after pickup and don't have time to change. Still figuring that one out.

Today was a tough day and still trying to figure things out. Hubby and I are going to do some soul searching though because he sees how hard this group is and how our family is personally struggling with it.

Thank you though for all your words of encouragement/support/prayers and personal messages. They are all taken to heart and I know with all the ladies/gentlemen here I will find a solution!

glad to hear this. One thing that I was taught when I was in my early development classes is that some children don't adapt well to change. This includes routine and environment.

I know you want to try to make things better for the kido's and yourself. Please give it a good fair fighting chance before you decide to change too much.

Just changing the color of your walls could make a huge effect on the children

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you..........

      Heres what I'm doing.

      MWF-Preschool/outdoor time
      TTH-Center time/outdoor time

      This is a change from:
      M-F:Preschool time/Free play

They didn't handle doing preschool 5 days a week very well so thats why I'm cutting it down to 3 days.

Also, the weather isn't going to matter anymore-we are going outside!!!!!

I did the same thing last year. Only my Kinder ready kids do preschool 5 days a week, if they are here that long.

It made a huge difference in me and the kids...Mostly me because I was no longer stressed trying to find a way to get it all done every day...It is a lot for one person to take on

          Yeah!!!!happyfacehappyfacehappyface

We went out in the snow/slush the other day. It was reasonably warm, but they were soaking wet by the time they came in (almost 2 hours!). They particularly enjoyed playing in the wet sandbox.

When it was time for lunch, I stripped them all on the porch...with the food program lady watching::

Once they had eaten lunch and were settled in their beds, I went out and hung up all the wet clothes, shook out the sand, lined the shoes back up, and they were ready for another round after nap. It had dried quite a bit by then.

          More outside time=less behavioral issues!
