    Advice Needed on Ratio Issue

So I think I may be over ratio for two weeks? Licensed for Small by the way.

I currently have a 2.5 mo old, an 9mo old, and a toddler who will be 2 march 18. My own 4.5 year old and an almost 7 yr old.

I have filled two other toddler spots: a 2 year old that's supposed to start next monday and a 2 year old that will start march 5th.

As of march 5th am I over ratio for two weeks until my current toddler turns 2 on march 18? What to do?

I personally would not chance it. Here in my state, if you're caught with too many kids or out of ratio, you can lose your license. It's not worth it to me to take a chance on losing my company! I always tell my parents that I will have an opening available when I legally do have the spot available and ask them if they can find someone (grandmom, friend, etc. ) to watch them until then. Typically they can figure something out until my space becomes available.

I'm confused, I don't see that your over ratio. Are you not licensed for a small daycare which is for 7 as long as one is school age. You can have two infants under 2 years then four preschoolers and one school age.
        You should be fine.

GrannyJ....Yes, I am licensed for that many. However, my worry was that my toddler wont be 2 UNTIL March 18. So do I technically have 3 infants? Or am I making to big an issue over 2 weeks?

maybe call the parent of theone supposed to start the 5th and tell her you temp. forgot that the state still considers the young toddlee (the one with a birth day on the 18th) to be an infant untill his/her birthday.

I always call LIC if I am ever in doubt.

In CA you can NEVER me over your capacity for any reason. There is no such thing as a variance here, EVER. Not even for 5 minutes.. Trust me, I asked...

That's what I'm wondering as well. Do they check birthrates on everyone? I have not yet had an unannounced inspection so I'm not sure what they would check in terms of age ranges.

What do I do if the family starting on the 5th says they have no childcare? There daycare is closing at that time.

honestly you would be over ratio. I had a situation where the mom was going to lose her job because she had two children and I had only one spot left and she was without childcare. I wanted to help her soo so so bad, I called LIC and they said no it is never allowed.

Yes, they do check all paperwork and verify each child's age. Chances of getting "caught" are slim. Price of getting caught is $100 a day.

Ugggh, I feel so unprofessional calling and changing dates!! And to make matters worse these two new families know each other from the same daycare. The one starting Monday was a referral from the one starting in march!

everyone has mishaps. Don't feel bad. I had to do it once before and felt a little silly too.

We are human and make mistakes.

So will this mean you have to turn the family away or just change dates??
