No tv here either. Its my rule for my kids during the school week and the rule at my daughters Waldorf school, so we follow it here. the funny thing is when i bed the rule, everyone seems to get edgy. They fight more and my nerves can't handle all that noise either. So we just leave it off all day. Now with the rain coming up, I may change that a bit, but for now, i'm happy with no tv.

My rule is that I don't allow two things at once:

      No play and eat
      No play and watch tv
      No tv and eat
      No tv and play

When they eat they just eat
When they play they just play
When they watch TV they just watch TV

The value of each thing you do with the kids decreases when it's diluted with other things going on at the same time.
      Same here.

I would be fine with no cable in our house but the hubbie would die without his sports. That's 70 dollars a month I could buy shoes with!!! Haha think I'm gonna keep tv on less. Have not been turning it on in play room. Think I will for mornings still maybe evenings some. They would do nothing but sit and watch if I would let them. They need time to explore and use imaginations

I do the same. All that background noise drives me nuts too! The only TV they watch here is 30 minutes while I make lunch.
