Question about daycare in someone else's home

I have been asked by a parent to provide daycare for her 2 kids in her home over the summer. She has a few friends who also want me to provide daycare for their children for 4 hours/day, 3 days/week. But all the children (4-5 kids total) would be at this first person's home.

The kids are between 3-4 years old, and I would like to use a preschool curriculum with them. I live in Kansas. Is this allowed without needing a daycare license?

In Kansas it depends on how you classify yourself.

Look into your regulations because some states require that you live in the house that you provider FCC in (like in my state- CA). My former boss who has her own FCC said when she first started out (1970s/1980s) she offered free daycare to one family in exchange for using their house for daycare. She suggested that her daughter do the same (her daughter lived in a studio appartment but wanted to start her own daycare) but she couldn't because the laws changed. But since it is a big group of non-related kids you may need a license to legally care for them (unless you are allowed to care for that many unlicensed).
