I do not do interviews during dc hours. Too difficult. I did not respond to this post because sometimes I have a hard time believing what I read.

I feel it's also a safety risk. There are a lot of crazy people out there. It can turn into a risky situation having strangers come to your home and putting the children at risk. I request parents come after hours the first time and explain my reason why. I invite them back during daycare hours to meet the children and see how I am with them. Parents have always commented on what a great idea it is once they think about it and it actually says a lot for my program and the safety precautions.

I do the same as gbcc. I tell the parents that for safety reasons I only do first time interviews after hours when my husband is home. If the meeting goes well and they would like to come back for a second interview during business hours they are welcome to do that. Parents like knowing this and think it's a good safety practice.

I think this is a great idea. I HATE doing interviews during daycare hours, it's such a stressful situation and I hate the parents seeing my flustered. Especially when there's paperwork I have to fill out for subsidy or whatever, I hate having to take my attention off the kids for that.
