My first thought is that would not have worked on my husband because he LOVES lemon juice, straight out of the bottle or lemon!

My second thought is about how horrible it is that some people think that's okay to do to their own children let alone to someone else's.

And my third thought is WTH is she doing in child care if she can't stand crying to the extent that she thinks shoving something nasty down the child's throat is going to STOP the crying? OMG, that's just awful!!
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

Might have to report within 24 hours

Just an fyi that depending on the state you live in, yes, you may be required to report any violation or complaint within 24 hours of incident. Couldn't believe my eyes when I read our state's licensing laws. I can't imagine why this is other than to protect the DCP. That's outrageous and hoping that there are exceptions to that sudo statute of limitations in our state. It takes me more than 24 hours just to find out what really happened during incidents with my DCP - between interviewing other parents, etc. If it was my kid that lemon juice would have happened to, I would have called licensing plus the police and I would have called the other parents at that daycare. Obviously, I would have pulled him immediately, too. I think I would have called social services too besides the state, just as as a cya. And I would have contacted my local newspaper and asked them to cover a story on the allegations - just so the public was informed of what she did so they don't send their kids there just in case the state only slaps her hand. Good luck to you - I hope they throw the book at her!

I believe it is within 24 hours of learning of the incident.

          Write your thoughts down...
Honestly, you should be able to take her to court and get money for putting your son in danger (left alone AND around harmful substances...paint --unless it's fingerpaint, ) and damaging your items (tossing out the blankets) and abuse (trying to control crying with lemon juice) and probably many many more things. I would really look into it! No child should go through that. Since the court system is slow, make sure you write everything down on paper. Talk to your children about it and make sure your story is straight. Hope everything works out.

            Just Remember!

YOU ARE ONLY HEARING ONE SIDE OF THE STORY.

It is not okay to pass judgement.

Agreed.....don't pass judgement on people when you only know one side of the story.

Then, by all means, give us the other half?

Hard not to judge when you only have one side of the story...though I don't know what could be possibly said on the other side to defend these actions against a child.

Weird...I want to hear the other side of this one too!

I'm also curious if there is an update? Did licensing step in? If this is true, I would think that the provider would be shut down.

Even if I knew the other side of the story, it isn't my story to tell. I just know there are always two sides to a story.

I do know for a fact that she is still has a fully operational daycare with many happy parents.

Hmmm...either the op is lying, which is always a possibility or she didn't report it. Lots of people are happily attending a daycare that ****s--they just don't know it yet.

Interesting. This poster is not the original but in the same area. I am going to email OWATMNPARENT and request that she signs in and replies.
