Hello everyone, this question is for my niece who is 7 years old. She has a problem with her vision and suddenly says that she finds everything very small. Sometimes she writes very large letters in her copy. Once she saw a soccer ball in her brother's hand and said that it looked like a marble. At first everyone thought she was kidding but now it seems that the problem is increasing and she is genuinely having some problem. What is it, has anyone else had this problem? Please help.

Has she ever had a vision test done?? -
I would not be guessing at what it is, and would be booking an appointment ASAP to get it checked out. Wishing your niece all the best and hoping her vision returns to normal soon.Comment

She needs to see an ophthalmologist, possibly a neurologist.
Depth perception issues often indicate a problem with the optic nerve or brain (tumors, fluid pressures etc)

It is known as micropsia, if you want to look it up, but she really needs to be evaluated. It can have several different causes, some rather benign, others quite serious.Comment

Thank you everyone for the replies. The problem of seeing things very small lasts only about a minute or so and after that everything again gets normal. She has been to the eye specialist but nothing was detected. Hope everything gets fine soon.Comment

It can also be a visual processing disorder. A behavioral optometrist can be helpful to get her fully evaluated (not just on what she sees, but also how her brain is processing that information).Comment

Thank you for the suggestion, I searched for the symptoms online and I found them to be similar to those of my niece. Don't know where it has come from- nobody in our famiy has it till date.Comment
