    Would You Go Out?

Thinking of taking the kids out to play because I've been getting the ole pressure from the parents, but it's only 25 with a wind chill of 14 right now. It's sunny, but I think that's too cold.

I am typing this on my i-phone. We are outside. My kids are 5 months - 5 yrs old. It is 15F here with 17 mph wind. Which makes it feel like 0

So, yes I would go out.

I wouldn't, but it's really personal preference. Taking 20 minutes to get everyone bundled up to spend 10 minutes outside before everyone is wind burnt and freezing isn't worth it to me!

If you don't feel comfortable then don't!

I really like the weather chart here on the site, I use it to reference for myself and to explain to parents when it makes sense to me for us to go out and when it makes sense for me to stay in.

I noticed the chart we have on this site goes list temps and windspeeds in increments of 10. Here is a better chart that has increments of 5 instead.

I would but we go out everyday unless it's colder than 0 F which is rare enough.

Honestly, the whole process of 20 minutes to get dressed, 10 minutes to get outside and settled and 15 minutes to get unbundled is all part of the winter outside process for me. They're just as tired from all that plus 20-25 minutes outside as they are from 1.5-2 hours in the summer when we can just walk out the door.

It's totally worth it for me to go through it every day. IMO it's no worse dressing in winter wear than it is to sunblock them all in the summer.

Even if it took an hour to get the dressed the 15 minutes outside ****ing up fresh air is so beneficial for them that it would be worth it!!!!

I totally agree and I work hard to get them out, that's for sure! My whole group is between 20 months and 29 months right now.

Their eyes change and brighten with the fresh air that no amount of inside dancing and play can duplicate.

Well we went out and I don't think there is a spot of snow in my yard that doesn't have a little footprint in it. They just ran in circles. They were cute. The funniest part was when we were heading back in and my little 20 month old boy has a hat that is too big so I'm constantly pulling it back up so he can see. Well, it slipped down again and he was way across the yard from me when I told him we were heading in. He doesn't know enough to push it up so he can see, so he's walking through the yard with his arms up blindly walking towards my voice. I had a belly laugh over that picture!

It was pretty darn cute. Kinda reminded me of when you blindfold someone and spin them around for pin the tail on the donkey!

We are required to take the children out, unless it is colder than 20 degrees.
