    What Else Should Be Done?

    Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I need help with a serious situation. A support teacher starts working in an infant room. The lead teacher and the assistant teacher are extremely territorial and want her out. This support teacher tried by all means possible to be professional and tries to deal herself with the situation by focusing on her job and talking to these two teachers. Nothing changes and even get worst. The lead teacher and the assistant teacher frame the new teacher and ask the support teacher to feed one of the infants with the wrong food. The two teachers know very well that the baby is having the wrong food and they arrange everything to make the support teacher believe she is doing the right thing. Once the support teacher finds out, she immediately reports the incident herself to the manager. The support teacher also finds that this is not the first time a support teacher had trouble in the same room with the same teachers. She knows she follow procedures and she was framed. She feels that something else should be done because that child was in serious danger. Should she contact another agency besides the center's manager and who??????

Oh wow! That poor teacher and poor child. I hope that child isn't allergic to the food! Did the director do anything? This sounds like the teacher works in a center.? If so, (I have worked in a center setting for 14 years) the director needs to do something, if not she/he usually has someone over him/her that the teacher can talk tol. Some places have anonymous hotlines. If nothing gets done, the teacher could call licensing. Michael gave the information for your state.

Sadly, nothing was done. The two teachers gave their versions and even when the educator manager believed the victim teacher's version, the other two teachers faced no consequences at all. They wanted victim teacher keep working with the other two like nothing had happen. She refused and resigned and now can't be hired by any of this daycare center branches. The sad part is that the lead teacher who is one of the "pranksters" doesn't have any academic degree, just a high school diploma. The other prankster had just a CDA. The only one with a college degree in Early Childhood Development, is the victim teacher who was the support teacher.

Poor girl! If I were her, I would go above the education managers head, even call licensing if needed even if she resigned! To feed a child the wrong food, that can be considered neglect/abuse! I can't believe those teachers told her to do that! Sometimes when working in centers there are cliques, people stick together and it's hard for an "outsider" to fit in. It's sad that those teachers had to act like that, very unprofessional! If that happend at the center that I used to work at, I would be fired! She definitely needs to report them!

That's so horrible. Sadly, this is why I left my last job, because of backstabbing, gossiping, mean, nasty women. Why can't women realize that they should be supporting each other and sticking together? Why do so many of them have to be so catty and vindictive for some kind of power? It's really sad and that's the biggest reason why I'm happy to be self-employed.

Tell this poor woman to open her own home daycare, be her own boss and set her own rules and be happy. I know I've never been happier since I became my own boss! And I cut nasty women like that out of my life darn quick!

Report them, contact the child's mother, and open your own child care service. You could also contact a local news station and tell your story. Once people find out I have a feeling you will need to hire an assistent and have a waiting list!
