Hey everyone, my name is Kayla and I'm new to the site and daycare in general. I was a middle school teacher for three years and, while I liked parts of it, I found myself generally unhappy with the job. My real passion has ALWAYS been in teaching and caring for younger children. I joke that I was born with the "mommy gene" and even as a kid, I wanted to hold babies, feed them bottles, play with them, etc.
I recently made a cross-country move and decided that this was my chance to make a career change. I interviewed at two childcare centers this week, and connected wonderfully with the second center. They have openings for three age groups (infants, toddlers, and pre-k) and I expressed the most interest in the infant room. I got called back for a second interview tomorrow- sort of a working interview, where I will get the chance to observe the current infant teacher as well as have interaction with the babies while the owner and director observe me. I'm both nervous and excited, and haven't thought about much else since my interview on Tuesday!
So, if I do get the job, I'll probably be posting quite a bit! I'm very new to daycare, and will need lots of pointers, I'm sure!
Thanks for having me.
