I operate a home daycare and have been in the child care business for five years. I have been trying to set up a new routine for my daycare since our summer break starts next week. Throughout the school year I have 2 to 8 year olds. This summer I will have 5 to 8 year olds. The school year gets hectic and kids are in and out with preschool being half a day and then the school age children coming off the bus in late afternoon so the routine isn't as structured as I would like. This summer I want to keep them busy and was hoping that I would be able to find some ideas. I have decided to give each kid a job for the day or week (undecided on that still) and I feel that instead of quiet time we will have alone time for play in the afternoon. I have field trips planned and special activity days. I was googling to try and find ideas and came across this forum. So wish I would have discovered it sooner. Thanks in advance for any ideas!
