    Payment Vent...

I didnt want to hijack another thread but wanted to share what happened last Friday. So Friday is my pay day, for the week. I have one family that pays every other week. They ask me all the time if they can pay me Monday, and I always answer sure if you want the $25/day late fee. They always then pay. This Friday they gave me check and went on their way. 5 minutes later, got a call from them. I let voice mail pick it up as I was with other kids.

She wanted to know since she already paid if I can hang on to the check until Monday for no late fee charge, since she already paid me. ?????

I called her back and said "I deposit checks on Friday, if you want me to hold it it will be a late fee since the funds wont be in my account for sometime" She said ok cash it, I will just use my credit card to go out tonight.

The nerve of some people. I have made myself a promise, to never let anyone pay late no matter what the story, because as much as I like to help people, and I understand its expensive, who knows what they are spending money on instead of paying me!

That would be grounds for a 30 day probation letter in my book. And while you're at it, increase the late fees and bounced check fee to $30 each!

Oh I see. I believe she wants to spend any money on the weekend. It doesn't make any sense to me since she wants to hold until Monday. The between Friday and Monday are not much difference. :: What an idiot!

If she wants to held until Monday, you have right to charge her a late fee on the weekend. Gotta love it! ::

Dad paid yesterday and paid cash. He said he will start paying that way, and that mom is no longer in charge of the money for the family. Then he apologized and said it must be hard to have to get your paycheck from 10 families and hear all the problems they have, and not just get a paycheck direct deposited with no worries that it will be there.

Yep, the nerve. I bet she wouldn't like it if her boss came over and said "Here's your check. Oh, but can you hang on to it until Monday? My wife and I are going on a weekend bed and breakfast getaway." ::

At least the dad will take over from now on. Hopefully that'll save you some stress .

Bravo to you for handling that so well, I have a mom that wouldn't pay me on time and I knew she was going out on the weekends. I threatened termination after the 3rd time and we haven't had the nonpayment issue since. I really like the idea of late fees for late payments. I will have to put that in my book of ideas for policy changes.
