Do You Care for Another Providers Child(ren)

Just curious how many of you care for another providers child(ren) in your home or center? I don't mean playdates I am talking about full blown enrolled in your program.

    OR

Do you send your child(ren) to another providers house or center for enrollment?

I have been asked by another provider to watch her foster children, but have never had availability when she needed it. I have never ran into a situation where a provider wanted her own children in daycare. I think the majority of us do this to be with our children, not to put them in daycare as well.
I sent my daughter to daycare, only occasionally when she was little for appointments and things, but not consistently.

I have taken a couple of other "Chain Center" providers' infant's in my first few years. They did not want them to compete for attention with 7 other infants.

Once they started walking, had transitioned to a mat, learned to self feed/use a cup well and all the other "hard work type" things they pulled them because it was cheaper to take them to work; about 18 months. For some weird reason the centers here charge almost double for infants.

That is why I stopped.... I prefer long term.

Other than that, they were fantastic to work with.

When my youngest was about 4 I did a swap with another provider. Her daughter was the same age and both of our kids needed to learn to be away from mom. So 3 times a week for 3 hours in the morning we switched kids.

I sent my boys to a preschool I didn't think it was fair to them to always be here just because I do daycare they needed a break away from it

When my son was two years old I sent him to a home daycare for one morning 3 times a week so that he had the opportunity to be able to adjust without me. I also filled in for another daycare when the lady was on vacation or took a sick day. About 6 months ago she closed her doors and offered me all her children, I did an expansion and hired on an employee and took in 3/4 of the children she had enrolled. Worked out great for me!

I've done both. My neighbor was a home child care provider. She enrolled her kids in my day care on days she was closed so she could get housework and errands done.

I also sent my dd to a preschool center down the street. She had never been away from me and I wanted to get her used to spending a part of the day without me to prepare her for kindergarten. I also had a young group at the time and wanted her to be with kids her own age.

If you're still looking for people to pm on this, feel free to pm me, too.
