    Pergo floors?

I put in cheap pergo floors (not saying pergo floors are cheap, just the ones I bought are) and I swear no matter how much I scrub the floors the kids socks are always gross! Can it seriously just be the color coming off the floor?

I scrubbed them by hand last night and noone was in the room till I opened this morning and everyones feet by lunch time looked liked I haven't cleaned since 2000. It wipes off their feet like dirt!!:confused::confused:

i was told to never use anything other than water to mop because any chemicals would take the finish off. maybe thats what's on the bottom of their socks!

Maybe! I did use a lot of cleaner last night scrubbing the heck out of them. I never heard only water. Good to know. I serioulsy believe that something is coming off those floors. Do you think it could be harmful to the kids?? If it comes off the floors onto their feet it could very well do it to their hands and then they could be putting them in there mouths?!

Ughhh I hated having area rugs in there with the cheap pergo i bought I was affraid to shampoo the carpets to much. I am already having problems with the joints raising from a minor flood we had.

I have pergo and clean with water and vinegar. I've found that socks+pergo=slip and fall unless they have non-skid bottoms on the socks. We wear shoes, except @ nap time. Yes, liquid makes them curl up @ joints. I mop daily after lunch w just water and w vinegar before I go home every other day. I had carpet, for 3 whole months after I opened, NIGHTMARE! One room is tiled in marble. We do messy or wet stuff in that room! Lol!
Oh, you can also buy pergo cleaner, but it is basically vinegar by the smell of it. I would not use any other chemicals while kids are in care. I do clean the tile floor with chemicals on weekends but rinse thoroughly w water. Hope that helps!

We had this problem when I first put in pergo-ish floors but it went away after a while? I'm not sure when or why but it did stop. We've had ours for almost 2 years.

Are you talking about Pergo brand name of Laminate flooring? If so, we placed it last year that we paid a lot of money (not cheap). We have NO problem and I am using Shark Steam Mop everyday which I love it. Maybe you should try to get a shark steam mop.

Pergo floors came in our kitchen, so they are at least 2 years older. We use "Bruce Cleaner", which the people before us recommended. Lowes carries it and sometimes the floor is slippery but it sure gets it clean!

Honestly I don't know what the brand was. I do know that the real pergo is expensive so im doubtful its real. Maybe that's my first problem . My kitchen has the real thing and I don't have this problem. But its lighter in the color. The daycare is like a lite cherry sandy color.
