Would this be fair to ask?

A DCM informed me this morning that she may be going back to the rotating shift. DCG's schedule when she started (she was my first daycare kid!) was one week 7:30-4 and the next week 2:30-5. I charge hourly, so the weeks that she was working nights I barely made anything.

She has been full-time for over 6 months now, and hourly it comes out to be a little over $100/week. Would it be rude of me to tell her that I still need full time payment because I cannot fill that spot? I'm not sure what she's expecting since I charge hourly and when they started I only charged those hours. My income would be cut on the part time weeks by $80.

Another thought was to charge $60 for the part time weeks?

I think that is perfectly fair to ask. If she really doesn't like it, you could offer the part-time rate as a compromise.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I would tell DCM that 1 week of part time isn't going to change her rate any. I wouldn't work 2 weeks of full time and 1 week of part time. She wants the spot, she should pay for it.

If you offer her part time pay for the 1 week, make her aware that $60 only covers X amount of hours and changes her pick up and drop off times. If she needs additional hours, they have to be approved a week in advance.

(That way you don't have DCM getting off work at 7am and she decides she's tired and wants to bring DCG in at 8am so she can go home and sleep and pick her up at 3pm rather than 5pm. KWIM?!)

I realize this mom may work a variable schedule but you don't. KWIM?

I would charge her for full time space because she has access to the full time space.

This is a change in HER work schedule, not yours. I would maybe average it all out over a month and then charge her one flat rate so that the charges are the same every week. I would not allow her to use any more time than she actually needs for work but I would charge her one flat rate that works in your favor. It should be accessibility she is paying for not hours used.

I don't have the exact same situation but I have a dcb that has 5 days out of 20 that are a later pickup then the others. because they are various days and she wants to pay biweekly, what we did was this...

I charge 110/week for the early pick up days
I charge 145/week for the late pick up days
          total 475 divided by 2= 237.50 biweekly.

That way I am getting the same pay everytime, and don't have to worry about anything. They have lots of days additional to the 5 days because dad is an rcmp officer, and picks up and covers shifts, so they just pay me the difference of $7 if he stays late an extra day.
