    Normal Development?

I have lots of experience with 2's and 3's, but, aside from my own kids, my infant experience is more limited! Would you consider it normal for an 11 month old to want a bottle every 3 hours still? In my limited experience, kids at that age generally don't need a bottle that often. He is a great eater - eats a lot of "food." I can't really get him to take a sippy yet, though, and he cries for a bottle every 3 hours, on the dot. Like a younger infant would.

Sounds more like a "habit" then a need. My 11 month old was on the same type of schedule when she first started a few weeks ago but since I added real food to her diet, she no longer seems to want her bottle.

Mine also isn't very good with the sippy yet, but I started putting water in her bottle and formula in her sippy so she knows where the good stuff comes from.

Maybe try that and see what he does.

      Yes

I've had many eleven month olds on three hour bottle schedules.

What's wrong with him eating a bottle every three hours?

Just, in my experience, by the time they are 11 months and eating as much food as he is, they don't want a bottle that often. Most babies I've had dealings with at that age are down to much less formulla a day, heading towards "big kid" eating and drinking. I mean, that's the same bottle schedule he's been on since he was 8 weeks old!

              ah, I see.

You could try offering him water part of the time as he could be thirsty, or you could not worry about it, he might just need the extra calories and nutrition from the formula as well as the practice from the food.

IME, if they want to eat, then they are hungry.

i would go with it unless there is some problem with feeding him that often. i am okay with a lot of things as long as the kid is happy. it does sound like more of a habit though than actual need. is it breastmilk from a bottle?

No, it is formula. His Dr has said he needs to be working toward less botle and more food. We've got the more food part down! Lol. I do go with it, because like a smaller infant, he will cry until he gets a bottle. Maybe it Is normal. It just seems like a lot of formula for a baby so close to a year old!

I feed kids every 2 hours so him wanting a bottle every 3 doesn't surprise me. I'd keep giving it to him for now because babies are suppose to be fed on demand.

I think its in that "wide range of normal". I think its common to have cut out a bottle or two of the "every 3 hour feedings" by that age but of course not every baby has. I'd imagine he is one who won't be off the bottle at 12 months either - will probably be a slower process with him. I think the formula intake will go down once he's using a cup more too.
