    Changed My Hours

Yesterday I put out a my first ever Announcement Flyer. I was so nervous. I changed two things:

    1. Drop off times for MWF can not happen between 8:30 and 9:15, since my three year old is going to be going to preschool and I have to drop her off.

    2. I changed my hours of operation from 7am-6pm to 6:30am-5:30pm.

It really doesn't effect most of the families I have in my care. There is only one dkd that seems to drop off at weird times and picks up later. But he doesn't work, he golfs. I think he can work around it. (he he)

    Wish me luck!

Right after I opened I changed my closing time from 6:00-5:30 and it made a huge difference! You wouldn't think 30 minutes would be a big deal! I found most of my parents were doing personal things after work, which was fine b/c I was open, but that 30 minutes really cut in to MY family's time and if the parents didn't really NEED me for that time, then there was no point in me being opened later. I was much happier after I did it and had no complaints! Good luck!!

I have changed my starting and closing hrs. about 5 times in almost 10 yrs. !! I went from 5:45am-7:30, not all at once- then closing time from 6:00pm-4:30pm, not all at once. WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE IT HAS MADE!! I have also moved into other cities twice in there as well.
Now for the past 5 yrs. I do not have opening and closing times per say! I always ask well, what times do you need? There are many, many parents that will run errands, work out, etc. after they are finished with work, if you have a closing time. Let's say 6:00, they finish with work at 5:00 and come everyday at 6:00- that used to make me mad!! It always used to cut into my family time, soccer games, soccer practices, school programs, gymnastics, swimming lessons, suppertime, and just family time!!

This is exactly why I did it! I have four children of my own. Plus all of my families except one pick up before 5:30 most of the time anyway.

Thanks! So far so good. We will see what golfing dkd says on Friday! Honestly if he doesn't like it he is free to find someone else! I have a few numbers he can call. They all charge $15 per day more then me!

That's just the attitude we have to have in order to make it in this business. When you are opening your home for 10-12 hours a day, it's hard to not be resentful about parents leaving kids with you while they golf! Ha!

I hear you on the resentful part. But I am learning to just set some boundaries that I can live by to make it ok for me to let the other stuff go. Golfing dcd is cool. He just has to have some rules.
