Really OT But WTH Are Parents Thinking???

The U.S. hit show Toddlers and Tiaras, which tracks the surreal world of child beauty pageants, has shown a barely-out-of-nappies Maddy Jackson, pictured, with fake breasts.

I really hope this doesn't open up a heated debate but I have to get some insight if possible. I am ok with childhood pagents if that's your cup of tea but keep them natural and do it for fun. These pagents have become totally out of control in my opinion. WHY in Gods name would a Mother do this to their child? To me this is a form of abuse. She is raising that poor child to believe looks are everything and if/when her looks should fail where will this poor child be then? I understand every Mother thinks their child is beautiful and rightly so but why do they then smother them with makeup and ruin that natural beauty.

I feel so bad for some of these kids in pagents because they seem to be a mere trophy. I saw a Mother gluing false eyelashes on a little girl and the girl was crying because they were hurting. The Mom yellad at her to shut up and stop blubbering because she was making the eyeliner run. When I see them at the mall I hurry past so as not to get angry and say something I would regret. Once just once I would love to stop and tell those kids that they are beautiful just how they wake up in the morning and don't need ANY makeup!

Then we have the whole perv aspect to it. Knowing there are perverts out there why would you make your child even more appealing to them? Why does a child need false breasts and butt enhancments to win a CHILD pagent? I think it has just all gone to far now. Ok vent over just had to get that off my chest. Any pagent goers feel free to flame away I have my shield and suit ready!

I agree with you too. I've watched Toddlers in Tiaras before and I couldn't believe how some of the moms act towards their little girls. Only once did I ever see a mom concerned with idea that it could be damaging to her daughter and pull her out of the competition.... good for her.

        Really, just really! Wow!
Don't these parents think they will worry enough about breasts, butts, and looks when the time comes gosh- what a great way to start your daughter off with body insecurities IMO
Geez, let them be kids, play in the dirt, make mud pies, climb, chase butterflies, picnics in the park, I can come up with way more positive things one can do with their daughter than fit them with falsies.... That time will come...and comfort fast, why on earth make it last longer

I'm with you 100 percent Pitter...I get soooo bad when I see that show. When I was younger my mom placed me and my best friend her nanny child in a pageant in the 80's. I don't remember it ever being anything quite like what it is now. I couldn't imagine what these poor little girls are going through and how it will effect them later in life. It's awful and a little girl should not be exposed to spray tans and fake teeth, or learning how to strut and pose. She should be made to do any of that stuff. Sitting for hours for hair and make up...ridiculous!!

I pretty much agree with everything you all said! Not to mention the aspect of raising a diva child. I turned on Toddlers and Tiaras for 1 minute out of morbid curiosity and turned it off once I saw the attitude of those kids. Ugh. I don't tolerate attitudes at ALL!

I would think that maybe if they took all the "street walker" makeup out of it, would it be different?

I've watched Toddlers in Tiaras a couple of times and almost feel like it's a sort of abuse to the children. So much pressure at a young age. There are some that absolutely rise to the occasion but others.. nuh uh.

I can only shake my head - waaaay over the top. Why can't they be satisfied with dolling them up for dance recitals?

It's the Mothers - there must be something clinically wrong with them. They are Stage Moms gone Wild.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention the Mother that gave her young child botox injections in her face!

I don't know why I watch this show but I do.
I think some of the girls like it but I know most don't and I think it's terrible to judge them for beauty. I think all kids are beautiful.
I remember this one episode I watched where the girl only wanted her aunt and would only perform with her aunt on stage. She would hit at her mom and yell at her. Then the aunt would just smile and shrug.
I don't watch it all the time, but I just get curious.
