I need advice on possibly reducing my numbers from 16 to 8.
My partner needs to take a leave of absence. We are 'C' providers in Iowa. I am lead provider and am allowed to have 8 by myself.
I have 6 full timers and the rest are a mix of 3 day PT.
It would be easiest to say I am only keeping full timers and I will need everyone to be full time to keep me 'in the black'. That leaves 2 spots open. I do not want to fill these spots with new children as I am almost possitive this will turn into a full shut down sometime after the new year. I am willing to fill these spots with 2 of my part timers.
I already have in my head who I would 'want' to stay, but I don't know if it is fair to just pick one over the other.
Also how do you break the news? Here are the ideas I have had:
*sealed letter handed to everyone, two differnt letters who stays and who is out.
*ask all parents to an after hours meeting
*ask only the family I can keep to a meeting (hard bc many parents work together and would wonder why they were left out of a meeting0
p.s. I have never called any type of DCP meeting so that would be a red flag. I have in the pst sent out letters to parents both sealed and unsealed. anytiem I need to remind a parent who isnt following contract I send out a letter to everyone...refresher and I don't single anyone out.
Either way I would not be telling anyone about future plans to close. As there are many plans to put in place and it is at earliest 6 months away and possibly longer (house can not go on the market for 6 mo and then how long to sell..)
Any advice is welcome and very much needed.
