I can only have 8 on my own but they all have to be over 2. I used to have that until there was a baby boom. Now I have 8 kids ages birth to age 12. BUT i have an assistant. My own kids dont count anymore since they are over age 7. We have such a system here and a schedule that it runs pretty smooth. I think we as a team could handle more kids, but our state does not allow a large family group with assistant.

Its weird how different states have such different ratios. What makes someone in ( lets say) ohio able to handle 12 on her own all ages but me only 8 over age of 2. ?? Wonders of the laws.

I do not have 8 children but today I have 7 kids 2 months - 3 years old and I am working my butt off.
2 infants, 1 toddler, 2 two year olds, 2 three year olds,
This is my first year and I decided that in the future I will only take 12 months and up unless its a infant of a sibling in care.

My license is for 8 children. I can keep 8 if no more than 2 of them are under 24 months and if 2 of them are school-agers otherwise I can keep 6 if no more than 3 of them are under 24 months. A provider's own children count here if they are under 10 so when both my of my kids are jere they count since my DS is 9 months and my DD is 6 years.

I'm not usually at max capacity (8) because I choose it that way. I usually keep it to only 3 full and part-time daycare children plus my two (my dd is usually at school) but they are scheduled at different times so it's nice.

Lately however I've started to accept as many drop-ins as I could until being at max cap so instead of being at 6 (sometimes 8) 2 to 3 days a week I'm trying to stay at 6 all week plus my DD after-school. It hasn't been too bad actually. I think I've found my groove and the kids seem to mind me well (even the 2yo's). I've had a couple of days where I had 8 for an entire week and that went pretty well. I was deffinetely more tired that week than any other but I think because of the SA's. The two band together and think that they can boss the kids around and ask me if they can have or do a million-three hundred thousand- five hundred and seventy two things that they know they can't have or do during DC (my two SA's are my DD and my nephew).
