I keep my doors locked. It's allowed in my state.
However, I am going to print off this article to show to any future potential parent who doesn't like the idea my door is locked. I would suggest that those of you who are in states that want you to keep your doors open, also print this off to show the state what a silly rule it is.- Flag

We're locked with a buzzer that has a camera on it. Safe Sanctuaries here.
It is serious business to keep things locked these days. The less people have, the more crime you will see. Be on your guard.
He would have been sorely disappointed with me - there are times when I have a mere $3.00 in my wallet. I don't carry much cash.- Flag

no cash here either, I live in a small town, where everyone knows everyone so if anyone new is around they sure get looked at funny. We don't like door to door people here, if we get 2 a year, mostly catholic french farmers here. And we don't lock doors here either- Flag

I generally have my door locked during the day too but while I don't know the exact details of this case - with the DH coming home it sounds like a day at my house - where DH is working outside, he makes a quick 20 min. run to Home Depot and yup, he'd leave the garage door open while he was gone.. Or my kids are playing in the neighborhood and yup, garage door is open then too. It can happen to anyone, anytime. Scary!!!- Flag

It wasn't until 1 1/2 yrs ago when the 4 yo, then 2 1/2, started going out the front door at night without anyone seeing him. Now we have the keyless entry that automatically locks.
I posted this because someone had an issue with a parent about having their door locked. She can give this article to that parent to read.- Flag
