Kind Of Funny But Needing Advice Also….

First just have to ask was he that strange B/C he is a Dad ….

More than 2 weeks ago someone called asking about child care for 2 children, the call end with the father saying “I will get back to you, after I talk with my wife”

Today I get a call from a person saying yah is this the child care place I just need an address. So after talking with him a little I realize it is the same person. So short version he stops by 5 min after talking to me on the phone. I barely had time to print him a contract, a rate sheet, and a schedule for August – September.

He was only here for like 3 min. I started the “interview” the way I usually do saying I took the liberty of printing you a contract, a rate sheet and a schedule. He takes them I ask him if he and his ex-wife (this info. Came up during the phone call) will be sharing the cost of day care or will one of them be taking full responsibility. Then he say he will be taking full responsibility for the bill and says the only thing is that we have shared custody 50/50 (at this point I am wondering what the problem is) so I will need care like 2 days one week and then 3 days the next so it will be Wednesday, Thursday, Friday then the next week Monday and Tuesday. He goes on to say so it is one week just half and half. I told him I will have to think about how to charge for that.

He is looking for care for a 6th grader and a kindergartener and the rate sheet I gave him says …

Weekly rates must be same day/s each week

Middle School Age (6th Grade and up)
    School Days 5 Days$95 3 Days $61 2 Days $42

    Summer and school breaks 5 days $167 3 Days $117 2 Days $69

Early Elementary School Age (K-1 Grades
    School Days 5 Days $100 3 Days $63 2 Days $49
    Summer and school breaks 5 Days $175 3 Days $115 2 Days $77

**$10 per week per child sibling discount

Any idea on how to charge him I want to be fair to him and me if I do not have the children all five days then I am not feeding them or picking them up ect. Understand why parent would not want to pay 5 day rate every week. However with that schedule it is not like I can find another child to fill the opposite slot. So charging the part time rate is not really fair to me.

Was thinking about charging $126 a week for both children, on school days with an additional charge of $49 should children be in attendance 4 or 5 days that week; and charging $236 a week for both children, during Summer and School breaks with an additional charge of $86 should children be in attendance 4 or 5 days that week.

    Advice and help please.

yup I agree with pp. He is paying for the days he uses. If those days vary week to week, then unfortunately (for him) he needs to pay FT.

personally, I wouldn't do it and I am one who takes part timers - but they HAVE to be set days each week. So, he's taking up your M & T one week then the W, Th, Fr the following week. I'm not a fan of charging for days a family doesn't need but in this case I'd tell him the option is to pay for all 5 days each week or I just wouldn't be able to accomodate them with that type of schedule.
