I think it's amazing how many times the words "ewwww" and "gross" are thrown around on this board. We are childCARE providers... so immature.
Personally, I see nothing wrong with this young lady's ad. There are people who will reply to her ad, there are people who will pay her large amounts of money to watch and breast their children. Who cares?
Some women cannot breastfeed due to various reasons - why look down upon the option to have someone else breastfeed their babies?
So sad.- Flag

hmmm, o.k. so who pays for the Aids test? who monitors the providers private life? What if the parent see's the provider at a restaurant having a drink? That alcohol will be in the babies milk the next day.
I just told my dh what we are talking about and he almost sprayed his coffee on me laughing.- Flag

IMHO, as someone else said, I see breastfeeding as a very intimate/bonding act between a mother and child. I would not want another mother doing that with my child, nor would I have ever offered.
In the case of a medical necessity, I think it's great that someone would be able to do that for another mother and child.
My bil had a wet nurse as an infant because his mother found it disgusting and refused to. He didn't shed a tear when she died 2 yrs ago. Hmmm, she found nourishing him as an infant disgusting, he found her dying an inconvenience.- Flag

I can see both sides... I however, i would feel I guess in a selfish way that breast feeding is only my job... To me breast feeding isn't only for nourishment but for bonding to mother and child. I would not like someone else taking over that role for me- unless an emergency. But, each to their own.
I might consider using a milk bank if I was so against formula ( which I am not) because then the milk is just
For nurishment- Flag

If this is a real ad, why couldn't the provider offer to pump and then donate the milk? Thats not unusual. Why does she actually have to breastfeed? To me that is very strange to offer that. Yes wet nurses are historically, a common thing. But not anymore. Anybody that is okay with having another mom actually breastfeed their child on a regular basis is a little creepy to me especially since the ad sounds like this provider specifically wants that situation. I would breastfeed my niece in an emergency and my sister would feed my littlest too but that would be a serious emergency situation.- Flag

I can't believe you've never said "ewww" or "Gross". You must be from anther planet.
That said, I get your point but we are also allowed to express our feelings about it.

There are just way too many things that can be passed through breastmilk.
I think it would be much more work to get a background done, ask for immunizations, run drug panels, HIV/AIDS testing, etc. W
What else can be passed through breastmilk? Can cancer cells be passed? What if that runs in the donor's family?????
I don't find it gross or disgusting, I find it very unsafe!!!- Flag
