Is Anybody Ready for the Summer to be OVER?

I am. And for more than the obvious reason (schoolies driving me insane). And I love summer, but this one brought to new meaning the phrase "endless summer". It just stretched on...

I'm getting stir crazy....I work at a center, and we have a whole floor devoted to preschool. I have four (count them) playrooms....I have changed the decor of each one. 11 bulletin boards...changed nearly of em. Switched out toys and books...cleaned the yard...made new numbers for the calendar with velcro backs...scrubbed the walls for pete's sake.

Plus Im ready for my schoolies to go back to school...Im ready to help with homework (here, even the PreK's have nightly homework:confused, listen to their school stories and see them in their uniforms .

    Anybody else?

:::::::::: I can so relate! Today was the last day of my dcks summer vacation and I'm so looking forward to having just the little group of preschoolers and infants all day! I love my older ones very much, but I am ready to concentrate on preschool projects and be able to focus on just that age group once again!

And let's not forget naptime! The joy of having at least the possibility of a few moments w/ no child talking/whispering/wanting something! 3 more weeks!

Yes, I am finally ready! My house has suffered enough!!! (constantly cleaning)
We have had a blast this summer.
We still have 2 more field trips left... a water park next week, and bowling, then school starts on Sep 7th.
But I am ready for the school agers to go back.
They are too. I am making them read a lot more so they can get back into the swing of things. This Summer breezed by because we stayed so busy.

I am ready even though my school agers are already done with daycare for the summer. My neighborhood has turned into a war zone. I can not wait until all I hear from 8:30-3:30 is the sound of the school bus.

It must be because my youngest is 17 and my school agers are only drop-ins who come once in awhile and are well behaved but.......I am so not ready for summer to be over!!!

School has already started for us, and all I can think of is how NICE it is to be back to just our preschool group. The summer started out really well with the school agers, and they did really well. We got to do a lot of fun things and all that, but by the last few weeks, it was awful! They were taking everything for granted, didn't want to do any of their "chores" (something as simple as picking their chairs up after lunch and setting them off to the side so I can sweep would cause all kinds of complaints. Nap time was no longer nap time (they didn't fall asleep anymore, they all wanted to get up and play, go to the bathroom several times, get up and ask how long til nap time's over a million times, and then start talking to each other way too loud. And their terrible attitudes and back talking... The worst part was their CONSTANT fighting with each other. Oh and the constant struggle to get them to go outside for even a few minutes (they're too used to playing video games at home, so they didn't like going out and playing). SO, when their last day came, I was SO ready for it to be over. I haven't missed school age summer care yet (it's been a week and two days of actual daycare without them now)! Things are so much calmer and more peaceful now

Yes and no. Mine isn't so much due to school and school agers, but rather my own personal journey into being a mommy of 2.

Fall is my favorite season so I'm really excited about that. With fall comes cool weather which makes me happy. Also, I'm due in October and I'm ready to meet my baby girl. So I'm really looking forward to the next couple months going by.

The reasons I'm not ready for summer to be over is because I'm about to head into a world of unknown being a mom of 2 + doing daycare. (My son wasn't "born into" the daycare) so I am a bit nervous too on how this will all play out.

I was on Friday..... My only school agers are my own.

But then Sunday night struck and as I was signing all the forms, reading all the handbooks filling out all the health information....the grand total of the checks I had to write came to $885.00 (all due by this Thursday, mind you). This does not include the back to school supplies or clothing.

We are on the SECOND day of school today.

I see no end in sight...we have not even gotten to the first field trip, formal, year book, book fair, fund raiser or sporting event.

                        This is public school.....

Oh, my aching bank account. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.....

NO! I adore summer, because I take off to spend time with my own kids. We can sleep in and don't have to be endlessly running to one activity after another in the evenings. There's no homework and no room Mom stuff and no PTA meetings....

Man, I'm getting tired just thinking about it.

Yes and no. I still want more summer.

My 14 yo and 5 yo started back today. The boys start back Tues for the 3 yo and Wed for the 4 yo.

No..........Back to morning chaos with everyone getting ready for school and work. Back to having to pay attention to the clock. Back to driving 25 miles one way to pick kids up from school. Back to homework.

Yes........Back to having the boys one on one. Back to our preschool work.

I have felt this way for the past few weeks, I keep asking the kids what happens in 2 weeks? SCHOOL STARTS!!! Grunts and groans from them but I don't think the smile on my face has been this big in a while. Its kept me busy and these kids are great but wow so many kids every day takes its toll. I'm excited to see the kids grow in what they know and ask them about their day. Next week I am doing a back to school theme in my daycare gonna try to get them happy about it too.
