    Hobbies for School Aged Girls

I recently posted about quiet time and opinions about it. I am also wondering what hobbies your children have? My daughter is 7 years old and she loves to color but I would love to find some other hobby that she would like, maybe beads, string bracelets, etc.....I can't seem to get her into any hobbies but would like ideas of what other 7 year old girls do while home other than play babies, barbies.....

At 7 my DD loved drawing Anime, writing comics and practicing calligraphy.

At 7 I loved splashing my BMX bike into muddy canals after jumping a rickety scrap wood ramp...

It depends on the girl, it seems...::::

I have a 7 yr old. She likes to color, read, art (I have a art cupboard) but I let her play with dolls and let her use her imagination. I wouldn't worry too much because her imagination will be so beneficial when she is older and has to write stories.

Perler beads, #1 top hit with boys and girls of this age. My kids LOVE them, and they are cheap, and take up a lot of time.

                Board games
Making frendship bracelets using embroidery thread
Bead necklaces (you can get some great cheap bead kits online, I use discount school supply)
                playdoh or clay
                painting rocks
                making pom pom animals
                read
there are some great free websites out there for kids play
legos, not just for boys, my daughter plays with them more than my son, they are expensive, but provide HOURS of fun, worth every penny

                  Quiet time activities

I love the Perler bead idea! I had a ton of those at one time and got rid of them because I didn't think I would ever use them. I actually didn't even know that is what they were called until I googled it. Those are the types of "busy" things I have been looking for. Thanks!

I forgot about perler beads, omg all my kids love them. I have a bin of beads and a bin of plastic shapes (we have lots of them) funny how some kids have no idea what they are. My girls (I have a 13 and a 11 yr old also) attach magnets to the back or make key chaines out of them.
