I hear ya! Schoolagers are the biggest pain to me...they back talk, there's never anything to do, they're bored, etc. Why can't kids today just go ride bikes from sun up til sundown like we used to?!
I told my kids yesterday that today between 9am and 11am, they were going to be outside, no tv, and no computer. Of course it was still an arguement and no one rode their bikes at all. I spent almost $500 on new bikes for them this spring and if I don't see them on them, they're going on the garage sale!- Flag

LOL! I just got done saying yesterday that I can't wait to start my preschool program back up, once the older ones return to school in a few weeks! Some days it has been a challenge to keep the older ones from bickering with each other...I always love the summer and having a more relaxed atmosphere, but I'm ready for some structure once again!- Flag

I'm so with you. My kids need to go back to school now. I'm really considering some kind of camp next year. Our elem. school offers a 4 day all day daycare for school agers run by collage kids- $30 a week per kid. I'm probably going to use it next year for mine. $60 week will be well worth it.- Flag

Mine used to be a homebody - til she discovered boys!! Not that I'm overly thrilled about that, but she's outside all the time now!
My daughter's 13 years old. She and her best friend run around outside with a group of friends (mostly boys) all day long. They go swimming in the creek, hang out at the local school and hang out on the playground there or the basketball court there, they simply walk around chatting with each other, go to the local convenience store, McDonalds, and Walmart, etc. She and her best friend stop at my house and her best friend throughout the day and evening. Her best friend spends the night at my house almost every night! Ocassionally they stay at her house. So it's as if they're sisters. It's pretty cool.
Of course, while she's running around, she is also texting!!! She texts throughout the evening, and makes sure to get on the computer sometime every day! But, for the most part of the day and evening ( up til 10pm) she's outside a good bit.
I have a helper - my daughter's best friend's mom works for me! So I go hunt them down often and check on them. They are never doing anything wrong - just hanging out and having fun.- Flag
