Actually the reason you got picked was by your driver's license not voting. I luckily just got excused of jury duty myself. I also breastfeed so I got a Dr.'s note stating medically I was not able to stand in because 1 the baby's source of food is through me and 2 I would become engorged and in pain to go a whole day with out relieving myself.

Wow what a bind! Here I am required to supply a backup provider to the clients whenever I take a day or week off. Then I pay the backup provider. Maybe some parents could work with u and have a relative keep them for the time?

I have never had jury duty, I don't vote. BUT if I were in your shoes and had no backup I would close with no pay so that the parents could pay someone else if needed. I think u get paid a little for jury duty but nothing like your daycare would pay. Good luck to u I hope u find a solution!

I have only been notified once. By the time you have to fill out the form that comes in the mail, I received a letter about a month before the court date that I was no longer needed. I've learned this much: When they ask you if you know any police officers or are related to any, write as many down as you know! You're guaranteed not to get called again! ::::::::::

I always filled the summons out stating that I had young children with no other reliable care. I always got excused.

I don't know any police officers but I could see how that would work! I did get excused though! I said I was breastfeeding and in order for me to serve, the court would have to provide time and space for me to pump and I would not pump in a bathroom (work places are required to provide rooms available that are NOT a bathroom and technically, you do get paid to be on a jury) plus all the daycare issues and yippee, got excused!
