What to Pay a Mother's Helper

There's a 12 year old girl in my neighborhood who likes to help out at my daycare. She plays with the kids while I make lunch or clean up, etc. She does this now and again without my asking just because she likes to but I thought about giving her a few bucks to do it regularly, a couple hours a week because the kids adore her. Any ideas about pay? I'm not looking for an assistant or to take advantage of her but i feel like I should offer her something. I'm in CT if that makes any difference. I noticed CT has a higher rate for childcare.

$5 an hour? Its great that she can have this experience but if you start paying her, make sure she is still supervised and well aware of the rules. Make sure she keeps earning her money and practices responsibility, hard work and being punctual.

Here, we can't have anyone under the age of 16 be an assistant, and even then they can't be unsupervised for a second.
