Anyone Have Advice About Copycat Crying?

Every time ANY of the kids cries, my 7 month old DCB starts screaming crying like crazy!! Even if I'm holding him, he still reacts the same. He stops as soon as the other one stops crying. I guess the cry scares him? Anyone have a little one that does this? Any advice on how to discourage it from happening? It becomes an awful chain reaction of tears when one cries and this little guy chimes in.

Any advice would be soooo appreciated!

No advice, but I have an 11 month old that does that. If I am correcting another child and use a louder tone, he cries. If another kid cries, he cries. If I or anyone else walk out of the room or towards the door, he cries.

I know what you are going through! I hope we can get some advice!

I hope so too! I'm at a loss on this one. I think he gets scared at loud noises, but its kinda hard to avoid crying & loud noises in a daycare atmosphere.

I know that is hard. I have had maybe two kids here that were really sensitive to noises. Unfortunately I just had to do the tough love approach. Noises happen and everything is fine so I didn't ever try and pay attention and get the copycat cryer to calm down. Eventually most of them get used to it. Seems like trying to soften the blow for them just drags on that crying for longer and longer and then you can't tell if they are really scared or just used to crying and getting attention that way.
