    former daycare kids

My beautiful former daycare girl came over this evening and cooked dinner for my family. She still comes over for dinner once or twice a week.

I got this tiny bundle when she was 3 days old, I already had her brother. She will be 17 next month, brother will be 21. I got her brother at 12 days. Both were unexpected adoptions where neither parent could take off right away. I had each for a couple of weeks before Mom was able to take some time off. Some of the best parents and kids I ever had.

That is so AWESOME! I just had one of my first dcbs get married and it is so wonderful watching them grow up! I feel privileged to to be a part of their childhood and see them now as young adults! So very cool

That's awesome! I started watching one when he was 7. He's now 24 and has 2 kids of his own whom I have watched on and off since each was born. Makes me feel old, but I love watching them grow up! I always check our local small-town newspaper for the sports teams, school clubs, honor roll, etc. Anyplace in the paper where it might show the name of one of my former kids. Love seeing their accomplishments!

She loves to cook and usually helps when she's here. I was going to order pizza tonight as I didn't have anything planned. She offered to go to the market, along with my ATM card, bought the groceries and came back to cook.

Now, if I could just get her to wash the dishes.

Better check your balance! Ho boy - that wouldn't fly around here. The kids here would rob you blind!

Wonderful that she cooked dinner for you - sounds like a great kid.

                That's sweet

For me, it's high school graduations. I had three of my former dck's graduate this year ~ I put these three on the Kindy bus together, then watched them get their diploma.

I love staying in touch with my "oldies" One just graduated from nursing school and another just had her second child! I have about 5 of them that are all grown up with families of their own and I LOVE them all so much. They e'mail me, or Facebook me or call me. Sadly we are all over the country now.

That's fabulous that she cooks for you and feels as though your home is her home away from home still.

Just this fall I enrolled a toddler who's mother was one of my very first daycare kids....kind of nice to see things come full circle. Nothing like making me feel old though...

Her and her brother are just like our grandkids. They both know all of our ATM#s, code to our house, where the cash is kept, etc. Her brother likes to borrow my dh's truck to help out friends who are moving, etc.

They've gone on every family vacation with us for 18 years - Hawaii, Texas, Utah, Colorado river, camping all over SoCal. In fact, we were on a daycare camping trip when the parents got a call that they might have a baby girl on the way in the next month. When we got home on Sunday, they had 15 calls on their answering machine saying their baby girl was born.
