UGH! Gonna be a HOT HOT Week

Gonna be close to 100 for the rest of the week. I know many of you are in the same boat. It makes for a long long week when we cant go outside. Our restrictions (from military program) are to not go outside this week unless its before 10am. I took the kids to the park yesterday at 9:30am and within 30 minutes they were bathed in sweat and asking to go home.

So what are you doing to stay cool this week?

We're doing lots of movies, and playing the Wii for the older kids during naptime. Playing outside early (before 10am). Building a "cafe" with blankets and the couch to play "restaurant" with the playfood. Older daughter made a menu, and we will pretend play restaurant.

Making homemade lemonade out of lemons
Making homemade slushies out of ice, water, and sugar free koolaid

Yesterday we made frozen buckets that we will melt outside and play with today. I filled big buckets with water, colored ice cubes, and small plastic sea animals I got at the dollar store. I froze them overnight, and today we will take them outside to see how long it takes them to melt. The kids can work at chipping out the animals.

Coloring the sidewalk with chalk, then using spray bottles of water to spray the pictures to make water color pictures.

its awful, this morning there is dew ontop of the humidity. Yesterday the older kids went swimming in the my pool, its a pain to sit and watch them but for an hour they get to cool down. I'm lucky that I have a screened in porch that they kids can come and go, but they are outside for 10min and its too much for them.

It has been 95-102 here everyday for at least a month. More predicted for the next 2 weeks. Mine are all littles (19 mo and under). So those early hours for going out, mine are still taking naps. I don't think we are ever going to get to go back outside!

I bought a small pool, a water ball and water toys. Had the parents send sunscreen, swimmers and tshirt. But just way to HOT for my littles! Hoping we have some "cooler" warm weather before fall!

Day 3 of temps 100 and even higher heat index. We also have like 94% humidity so the air is thick and hard to breath.

I have A/C in my childcare house so it is a comfy 72 degrees in here.... and no one has been allowed outside this week.

It doesn't look like it will be cooling off until the weekend so we will be indoors all week. The only downfall is that parents are starting to linger alot longer during drop offs and pick ups because of the A/C...LOL!! ::

Still raining herek-has been since sometime last week. Its all becoming a blur. Trying to rationalize why I bought my own children all those summer clothes two months ago. Its not cold but its chilly and most days they will just put on jeans. My daycare children have been coming in sweats/sweatshirts because of the weather. We can't get outside because its rainy or everything is sooooo wet.

What would be the cheapest way-UPS,FedEx, or US mail! Maybe it is coming your way just really slow. If it get there the only thing I do ask is nooo complaining about it. The weather guy was saying we are actually have our spring time weather now-we had none during the spring-so I'm thinking we will get our summer weather about the time school starts. It really hasn't been a fun summer here and I live for the nice summer type weather. It so helps me with my sleep problems.

Read in the paper we had 1 inch or more of rain from 5 am yesterday to 5 am today! I think the high is not even 70! They are saying Friday it should be in the 80's but who truly knows except God. I'm sending extra weather prayers up tonight.

OK, that does it! I'm sending this weather to you guys one way or another if you will send yours this way! It has been this way to long! We are freezing here-55 degrees and the wind is blowing and dark, overcast skies. I refuse to turn on the heat in July so I put on a light jacket and going to put on socks to I think. It was 54 degrees when I watched the weather 3 hours ago. 1 degree is all it has raised. A city about an hour north was 48 degrees! The farmers are loosing crops, hay, etc. because of all the wet weather and coldness. Last night on the news I saw in Iowa that roads were actually buckling because of the heat! Wow!

I would love to have my windows open also. Its a cold 54-like winter time, so when I do open them up all the little ones get very cold. I'm sure it also drops the temp. that regs say we have to have in our homes and I refuse to turn my heat on in July!

My poor kids! They are getting so bored. We have been doing what activities we can but they want to run and jump. My little house doesnt allow that. It is an awful 100 degrees today.
