    Stomach bugs & Swimming Pools

So how common is the connection between stomach bugs & swimming pools? One dck has been out several times a week for the last 4wks due to vomitting or diarrhea. She does go swimming frequently. Could this be a cause of her frequent stomach symptoms? I seem to recall reading or hearing that kids can get stomach bugs or even parasites from improperly cleaned pools. Is this something anyone else has noticed? My own daughter can't seem to go swimming without swallowing or spitting out the pool water, no matter how many times I remind her not to do it. I'd like to find out if I should be more concerned about this or not. Thanks!

I don't know about the pool connection but my oldest dd started vomiting and bouts of diareaha when she was 5 off and on for about 3 weeks before I took her to the doctor. We thought she was getting reinfected with a stomach bug at school. It turned out she was lactose intolerant and was reacting badly to the dairy. We stopped dairy and the vomitting stopped that day.

Yes, both myself & my son are lactose intollerant so I brought that up to dcg mom. She said the child had issues as an infant with breast milk & was put on soy. She now drinks milk at home but doesn't like to drink it much here. Actually dcg doesn't drink much here. I'm constantly offering her fluids as she drinks so much less than everyone else. Just got a call that mom of dcg has also been having stomach issues the last couple of days so she thinks its a stomach bug. Guess I'm back to wondering about the swimming pool connection.
