    Just Curious :)

How many of you have had infants that do not have paci's and then later find out that they use them at home?

I have had two like this now. Just found out that one of the little ones I watched used a paci at home, but was a thumb ****er here. Never brought a paci, so I didn't know and they were really colicky---sure would have loved to try that paci had I known it was ok to use one.

I always ask on everything comfort/soothing related and I have a parent fill out a worksheet on their child. Everything from when they nap, to how long, to if they want to be swaddled, if they use a paci, etc. That way I know all the options and am hopefully provided with all the knowledge about what makes baby happy. We have the opposite issue here though in that parents want kids attached to paci for as long as possible. I end up weaning down to naps only at about 6 months and take them away entirely about 18 months, regardless of what the parents do at home.

I had a kid recently who had never ever had a paci here or at home, but mom just recently decided to give him one. He is 2.

I have a one year old who never, ever needs a paci here at day care. But her mother rams it in her mouth the second she picks her up. Baby doesn't need the darn thing....mom does!

My 23 month old never uses a paci here. Ever. I don't even have one here to use. The minute mom gets here out of her pocket and into his mouth; I just shake my head every day at that one.

My 19 month old only uses it at nap here. It lives in her crib. Every photo her mom and dad post on facebook has the paci in it. It's sad because it hides her really adorable face ~ all you see is the neon color paci.

The 8 month old comes with one every day. The minute she sees me, she spits it out. It's kinda funny. I put it in the cubby and she gets it at nap; she never seems to want it any other time. She hasn't gotten any teeth yet, so she might need it then but other than that...

I have 6 year old who has come here since she was 4 months old. She never used a paci, blanket or soother of any kind. Until she the summer before she turned 4. She came back from a family vacation ****ing her thumb and has ever since; no one has any idea why.
