    Wwyd?

So I interviewed for my only opening with a family with a 14 month old boy. Mom and son were sick so only dad showed for interview. Set to start next Monday but haven't heard from them since the interview on Monday.

2 of my current families are expecting so I will be completely at capacity once those babies arrive (I'm losing 2 to kinder in August).

I did a little FB stalk before my interview with the new family and found out that they are expecting their 2nd in December. Dad glossed over the fact that they are expecting as the interview was finishing (just talking to my husband about why they moved to a larger house).

So here's my question...would you ask them about their plans for care once the new baby comes? If I keep my current group I wouldn't be able to take the new baby due to ratio so would you mention that or just wait and see how things pan out before December?

    Did you collect a deposit?

I would ask to set up a 2nd interview so you can meet DCM and child and determine if they are a good fit for your program.

    OR

I'd wait and see if they show up on Monday. If you didn't collect a security deposit, it's a 50/50 chance on whether they'll come or not.

I told him I needed all the paperwork plus payment by Friday so I'm just goin to wait until then. I'm just wondering if I should mention anything about the baby.

If they start, I would ride it out. You never know what might happen between now and then. If she's due in December, she may not need care til Feb or March. You might lose a child by then.

I wouldn't. Who knows what the situation will be in December, for you and for them? If they are a good fit for right now, then it will all work itself out.

I would just take the kid know and not say anything until they say something UNLESS it is a problem on your end to advertise and interview come late fall. Its possible that they are assuming you have room or are going to pull their older and maybe mom is staying home or something after baby is born. I guess it just depends on if you are okay with a possible temporary situation.

Not too sure on this one.

I get the nagging feeling that mom and child may not have been sick and that dad was sent to make sure there is a day care place...hoping that will ensure a place for baby too when it comes..How do you "forget" you have another baby coming? Either that, or you will get notice as soon as baby arrives and they didn't want you to to turn them down to take a more permanent family.

Around here, baby spots are hard to find. Many moms will call me and say they can find care for their toddler, but not their baby. Is it the same with your area? Mommy being pregnant may have been left out of the interview for a reason. If this is true...you may want to be careful as if they have already tried to pull a fast one....they will try again.

Hate to be paranoid...but I've been at this a looooong time and it never ceases to amaze me what lengths folks will go!

I won;t start a child until I meet them in person, and all family willing to come (both parents, if possible.) So would have scheduled a second interview.

Things change so much, who knows. I would not make a decision abotu the fam based on the baby. I have a DCG who comes to me, her little bro is with Gma but they were going to take him somewhere else soon- and not move DKG because she is happy here. Now I have someone leaving and brother will be able to come in Aug anyway. You never know! And if a fam thinks you are a good fit, they might be willing to use two places.
