5 Year Old Peeing Her Pants...

...because there was a bug in the bathroom. We were at the park and she said she had to go to the bathroom. We marched over to the bathrooms (which are an actual building, no a port-o-potty), and a moth flew out. She REFUSED to go in because of the bug, claiming she didn't have to go anymore. I was mad because she was clearly lying but, whatever. We went back to playing. She started asking how much time we had left at the park and walking in circles.

She even said, "I don't have to go anymore!"

2 minutes later, she starts screaming and the pee runs down her leg.

I'm extremely annoying by this. Mostly because she lied. At least tell me she still has to go, so we didnt have to drive home with her in pee pants.. Ugh. She's never had an accident (been with me about 9 months) and this was just because of being stubborn.

Ok, thanks for letting me vent. I'm sure this wouldn't irk many of you but I have only preschoolers who have to be potty trained to come to me....so when I have to deal with wet pants because of nonsense, I get cranky. ::

I'd be upset too. Kids can be stubborn sometimes.

I had a four-year-old that this happened to.

Except there were no bugs...she would imagine bugs in the bathroom, crawling on her, falling out of the ceiling, in her shoes...she had developed a psychosis about it.

She one time ran out of the bathroom half naked from an imagined bug.

      It was rough.

I'm sure I would have been upset, too. I feel for the little girl, though, as I'm sure the fear in her mind was very real.

Would she have gone into the men's? Not an ideal situation, but you could have had one of your boys check to see that nobody was in there, then send her in and guard the door. Just a thought.
