I have a child who is 3 whom I have had in care since 18 months. He is a challenge and the kind of kid who lives on a short rope b/c he can never handle freedom. He takes everything out of control and has no self control/regulation what so ever. Parents don't discipline so that adds to the trouble. This is the same kid who still can not walk anywhere with us without holding on to the stroller the entire time b/c he can't not run away. 95% of the time he is completely functionable (and even plesant) at daycare as long as I am firm and consistent with him.
HOWEVER, whenever someone else is here: my husband, my mom, helper, neighbor daycare lady, food program lady, other parents, his own parents, etc this kid REFUSES to listen to me. He absolutly WILL NOT do what the other kids are doing. He goes from controlled chaos to absolute nut. I am not talking the kind where they do little things to seek attention- tolerable behaviors- this kid throw rocks, rips birdfeeders from trees, harms others etc. My BP goes from normal to off the charts when he does this. I have tried to remove him from the group at the first sign of this behavior when someone else is around but he still manages to take over the whole group. He will have a throw down fit if I even try to regulate his behavior when anyone besides me is around.
How do I go on with my normal day (drop offs/pick ups- both his and other parents, outside time with other people around, FP visits, etc) without this kid ruining everything and everyone in sight?
