I have an employee who has been here for over 10 years (7 with my grandmother, 3 with me...). She has given me written notice that her last day will be June 29, and she is retiring.
If I am being honest, I am relieved...She complains ALL THE TIME about EVERYTHING.
BUT considering she has been here so long, I feel like I should do something for her before she leaves, from the kids and me.
What would you do?? I have thought about doing videos of random things the kids are doing. Apparently letting them SPEAK in the video isn't a good idea, because today when we were going to write her a note to tell her goodbye, they started telling me to tell her the man outside was mowing the yard..None of them said anything about loving her or missing her or anything, even though they do and will!
It's so tough for me, because the person I am getting to take her place is 20 years younger than she is, and worked here when I was 10 months old and was my preschool teacher...So I am SO excited, and shouldn't be.
Anyway, any suggestions for gifts? Or would you do a gift?? I mean, I am not firing her, so I feel like NOT doing something would be just plain rude!! Thanks
