It is a big inconvenience to me, my business and my program to have kids leave and go to "Real preschool". I am always jugling my own program, lunches, activities, to try to accomodate those who go elsewhere for it. Very frustrating.
A provider friend I have does that. She has a base rate and then adds to it for every bus she has to meet, every time she needs to get a kid "ready and dressed" for dance class, or every snack she has to save for a kid who has baseball practice and doesn't get there until a little after snack time. Etc, etc, etc. I see exactly why she does it. Because it is a PITA and it seems the provider is the one who has to make all the accommodatins for this stuff.

If a parent thinks they need services above and beyond what i offer for a preschool program they would be told i no longer hve a space for them at all. i have ony had it happen once in 14 years so and she changed her mind when she was told that.

I charge the same rate for all ages, even my SCHOOL AGE families pay the same flat rate as the younger children's families.

        That's what I'm saying

        One arrival
        One departure
        Per parent
        Per child
        Per day

I don't do ins and outs. I definitely wouldn't do it for less money. It's more work to have two ins and two outs a day. I would rather the kids just stay with me the whole day.

I have a parent that wants to place their 2 year old in pre-school. He'll be gone 4.5 hours out of the week. That includes travel time! Discount?! NOPE!!!

            Exactly!

My full time school kids still pay the same price as the little ones. A spot is a spot.

I know full well that the school age kids could be at a before and after school program for half what I charge. But their parents like my day care and know their kids need a place full time during the summer etc....so they happily pay full price. Most of them have been paying since their child was a baby and so they have just got used to budgeting that amount each week for child care.

I have six "schoolies" that leave at 7:50 each school morning and don't get home until 3:40 each afternoon. I am paid full price even though they are not here. Then I have some "littles" that come for a few hours while the big kids are at school. I get paid the same rates for them too. I am licensed for 16 at any given time but have 22 kids total enrolled.... all paying full rates. Works for me! The part timers don't come during the school hols as my schoolies have the slots then and I don't go over numbers.

let toddlers be toddlers, Yes, we teach them their colors, shapes, letters etc. but at this age they should be in a nice comfy home getting lots of love and care and not in a building type preschool. I have 2 year olds that are just barely talking sentences.
They will have 13 years of "real school" I'm sorry I just can't believe parents do this and they actually think they are doing these kids good.

O.k. enough of my soap box, yes charge them the full rate for holding their spot. Oh, and when they get back from "school" they will sleep really long because their little bodies and minds won't be able to handle this kind of "structure". o.k., I will stop::::::
              I sooooooo agree with you!!!
