Rant Update, lol

Ha, ha, ha. In follow up to my post "rant" that I posted last week, I just have to update as to what this particular dcb's mother let dcb do yesterday. This is a perfect example of his parents not ever telling him "no". I was getting myself a cup of coffee and turned around to see dcb "hauling" a 10 lb rock into my daycare. I mean he could barely carry this rock. It looked like a big river rock and was at least 9-10 inches long. His mother proceeds to tell me that he got it from the neighbors yard and "spoke" to it all the way to my house. She thinks it is soooo cute. WTH???? I am not exagerating when I say it was 10 lbs, may have even been more. As mom is leaving, I say to dcb "I think your neighbor might miss his rock, you should probably put it back". I proceeded to set it outside where it remained until his dad picked him up. This reminded me of last summer when she called me to tell me that as they were leaving he picked up my sprinkler and she didnt want to fight with him about it, so they just took it home and she was going to wait until she could "sneak" it away from him to return it to me, . All I can say is UNBELIEVABLE!!

Is it a listening problem on the child's behalf or is it the parents giving in to his every little demand...or in this case...a BIG demand?

That is horrible that the mom would do that... yeah it is teaching him to steal...its not hers and she took it without permisison.

It is plain out selfishness on the parents part. They would rather do ANYTHING than have to deal with the hard work of saying no and teaching appropriate behavior.

I had a family last year...4 year old fell and cut herself pretty deep (not here, with mom). So they take her to the ER and she needs stitches. However, they left before getting them, because they let her decide if she wanted stitches or not.

Typical! Does this happen to you all?: "no toys from home" policy. Parents let child have toys, food, etc in the car ride to daycare. Parent KNOWS you will not allow child to have the toy, candy, whatever, at school. But they say "oh he just wants to show his friend his toy..." And then they have to have a tug-of-war over the item and finally rip the toy out of their hands and leave the kid to scream about it. JUST LEAVE THE STUPID THING AT HOME!!!! Don't let them bring in the CAR either, and do NOT let them bring it in school and let me deal with the aftermath. We had one that did this, I finally stood by the door and literally would not let them in until the object was in the car. Ugh. Finally they got the message. Also had a little girl who had to have a "pat-down" every morning because she was sneaking little toys in her pockets, then would whip the toy out of her pocket and taunt other kids "I have a toy from home and youuuuuuu don't! Hahaha".

I have two that do this and they have been coming here for over 2 years. I tell them every time hand it back to mom or I am going to take it and put it away forever.

The parents still bring them at least twice a week.
I have parents that give candy as bribes to get into their carseat at age 3 and 4.
I had a little boy today try to eat trash and mom took it away, so he kicked her, smacked her, stompped on her foot. She gave it back.....WTH are wrong with these people. If that were my child i would pick them up and escort them out the door so fast they wouldnt know what to do. I dont believe in spanking, but I have had to spank my child before, to stop him from running into the street.....But some of these kids I care for if they were my child...............hhhmmm well I'll just leave it at that.....
Even my sister is horrible like this.
SHe lets her 3.5 year old make all the calls.

One day we were supposed to pick up my dad from the airline. I said to my sister lets go right now so we are not late. She ask's her son are you ready to go and he says no I dont want to now, Im not going. So my sister said we will wait until he is ready to go............WTH and leave my dad sitting at the airport are you crazy..... She does this with everything that her son does. She lets him call the shots she just oversees them is what she told me.....I wanted to slap her.....

Oh my word! Some parents really do not get it, huh? Why can parents not stand to hear their children cry? or get upset? Come on parents, stand your ground! They are letting 3 yr olds run all over them!

my sister is the same way. Last week her dd was here (they come and visit) she is 3.5yrs old so E is walking down the stairs (after my sis told her to go and help me with the babies at nap time) but she is walking down the stairs cutting paper with scissors which she brought up with her. So I take the scissors away and omg, she throws the paper at me so I make her pick the paper up and she is now screaming like a maniac. And my sister is sitting there on the computer. So then E goes to her and mom is hugging her and saying I'm mean, yup I'm mean, I don't let no 3 yr old rule my house. My other sister always says that she (E that is) is a spoiled brat with dumb parents who let her do whatever she wants.

Awhile back, someone posted their policy for toys from home - if it comes here, it stays here. I think that's a great policy, and if I ever have that problem again I'm going to use it. It's basically win-win. I get new toys, the parents don't have to listen to their kid cry ::.

oh I had one try to take rocks from my rock wall and I caught her getting in the car with dad and said oh you don't get a prize when you leave give me that back the dad looked like oh my now what will I do.
